O/S Daily Tuesday 20th January 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, it’s very cold and frosty with a sprinkling of snow this morning.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken goujons, jacket potato, beans, cheese and side salad. Tonight I’ll be using up the LO roast lamb, by re-heating it in a pot of gravy, will serve it with some new potatoes, veg and gravy.
Work yesterday wasn’t that busy for a Monday – but it was bitterly cold and the possibility of some snow flurries had been forecast, we’d had a bit overnight but not much, so we think that put people off coming out in the morning, because we had a spell in the early afternoon where it went completely mad and the office was rammed, it did make the afternoon fly past though.
I’m working at the other office today, so that will be a change of scene and then back to my normal office tomorrow.
Have good Tuesdays’ everyone x
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. All very quiet and still in these parts this morning, though still lying snow from Sunday.
I was AWOL yesterday as Sunday I was floored with a bug that came from nowhere. Felt lousy all day yesterday but feel a good bit better this morning, so hopefully I am on the mend.
Up again at silly o'clock and have just tackled my top cupboards which I can't reach without steps. I'd only climbed up there for a jar of beetroot chutney and ended up re-organising! I discovered it was my last jar too so must make some more sometime.
The slow cooker is going on shortly to do a batch of Bacon and red lentil soup. I have a few tubs of ham stock in the freezer from the Xmas gammon so that should add extra flavour.
Once Mr TA is up and about I really should tackle a few jobs that have been neglected whilst I was laid low. There's a layer of dust everywhere and bits all over. Mr TA said he would have dusted but he doesn't know how to do it!!! At least he knows how to run the vacuum round so that's something!
Have a good day all and hope the weather isn't too unkind for you. Take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all x
Last night was a ready meal for me as DH took the leftover curry from sat to work.
Tonight is beef stew that i made last night.
DW already emptied as is the animals fed and walked. Its -4 out there today and a thick frost everywhere so go careful today.
Anyhoo i can hear movement from upstairs so better dash.
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning All
Hope those with colds are feeling better, I think it's the lingering cough it leaves that stops us from recovering quickly.
Nothing to report here, usual jobs on the go, cauli cheese for tea last night, possibly sausages tonight. Must get a haggis at some point this week, I prefer the veggie one and do enjoy it once a year!
The weather was lovely yesterday but still freezing, the snow has frozen and walking is quite difficult. Got to work and our lazy bar steward of a Jannie had laid a little salt by the staff door, shame he didn't bother to clear or grit a 20m path up to it from the car park. He complained later in the day how busy he had been so I pointed out that 1 day a year wasn't too taxing. I don't think he will be speaking to me for a while!
Anyway, onwards. Have a good day, stay safe and take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Bit of a late start for me as I have a meeting in Edinburgh this morning. Aiming for 8.30 train. Haven't looked out yet but it feels cold.
This time I remembered to bring the papers for the meeting!
No idea about food for the day. Want to pop into JL for some body cream as I need an oil based one now. Winter skin is just awful, I can hear it screaming for moisture and sometimes my shins are sore from being so dry. Trouble is I don't think the Edinburgh branch stocks the one I want so will get it back in Glasgow.
Hope everyone keeps well and warm.0 -
Morning all
Off to work in a few minutes finish around 6 tonight , got 2 lamb shanks (whoopsies) for tea and I'm hoping DH will cook them ready for me coming in from work
It's so cold but it's dry at least although I think snow is forecast for tomorrow
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all.
Brrr cold here again with a thick frost, be careful if you are going out.
Off to work for me, when I got there yesterday there was a woman who had slipped on the ice in the car park and hit her head she really wacked it. Poor lady could not feel anything down her left side so was taken straight to hospital, the maintenance guys came and gritted the car park afterwards :mad:too late by then !
Meatballs for dinner tonight which I will get in the sc before I leave this morning will just have to do some spaghetti when we get in.
Need to have a quick tidy round tonight and change the bed before my uncle comes tomorrow.
Have good days all and take care xx0 -
Morning :hello:
Why can't people mind their own business? Here I am merrily making, re-using, altering etc. and the conversation HAS to be steered to how it's not normal to spend so much time on my own doing this sort of thing, people are social creatures and I'm obviously not happy so I should do something about it blah blah blah. Well I was happy til you decided to let me know you're a much better, happier person than me (cannot find a smilie sarcastic enough to put here). Course all this wasn't actually aimed at me, it was said in a general way so it's difficult to argue because you just know the answer will be 'oh I didn't mean you, I just mean in general' while they pull a hurt, offended face. Pffffffffffftt.
My blankets are looking good - in my opinion, lol - but I'm not enjoying making them really. I'll speed through them then get started on something else ASAP.
I was having a great day yesterday til scumbag BIL turned up here, I couldn't avoid him because he was walking down the drive as miss tru opened the door to go out and I was stood in the hall. I decluttered him as fast as possible and got back to my paper sorting, lol.
It's -3°C here and frosty, I'll have to keep an eye on the chickens' water to make sure it doesn't keep freezing over. I was hoping to clear the area near the shed - certain members of this household seem to think it's a builder's yard, lol - but it's too cold for my hip, it'll seize up. My cupboards have been sorted and tidied, I'll write a list recipes to make from the ingredients and see if I can put off going shopping this week. Then, crochet

Hi everyone,
Horrible day at work yesterday - I ended up minuting a meeting until 10.30pm. I'm thinking very seriously about telling them I'm not going back after the end of Jan.
I'm afraid that things are very boring here - for other people Tru. I am quite happy by myself during the day. I know some people find it difficult to understand, but I don't need to see anyone, nor do I have the TV on "for company". I know there are others who are more sociable, my sis-in-law needs to be out of the house doing something every day, that would annoy me but I accept that, yet people think it's ok to comment that I must be bored at home alone!
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
I'm antisocial and proud! I much prefer my own company to those of fools and idiots. Ok, I'm probably a fool and idiot too but at least ive only got myself to blame.:D As a child I spent a lot of time on my own and as I'm getting older I am finding I need the solitude I had as a child. Don't get me wrong, I love people, I wish I could switch them off when ive had enough. I also suffer with 'foot in mouth syndrome'. Its easier to keep my mouth shut than say something that someone will take the wrong way.Why can't people mind their own business? Here I am merrily making, re-using, altering etc. and the conversation HAS to be steered to how it's not normal to spend so much time on my own doing this sort of thing, people are social creatures and I'm obviously not happy so I should do something about it blah blah blah. Well I was happy till you decided to let me know you're a much better, happier person than me (cannot find a smilie sarcastic enough to put here). Brrrr! its cold! I'm trying to talk myself out of going to see Mom today but I know i'll feel guilty if I don't go. I just hope I stay upright.
Not planning on doing anything else today. If I do it will be a bonus.
Onwards and forwards (staying upright will be my main aim),
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
