laptop to router blocked

My older laptop has been conf to router, it tells me its connected, all the router lights are on, but it cant actualy connect, telling me theres a blockage.
my other laptop and tab are working perfectly with same wi fi.

what can I try ?

    Factory reset the router and ,make new connections .

  • Not much point doing a factory reset just yet. Not sure why that was advised?!

    Anyway, what exactly is telling you there's a 'blockage' on your laptop?

    logged in via AOL, but am with TT, device setting showed as connected, then showed blocked message
  • What did you log in to? Webmail? Are you able to get on any websites at all? Try going to bing.com or something, to test.

  • Hmm, sounds as though possibly your old laptop is trying to look for, and connect via an AOL modem- but the rest of your devices via the TalkTalk router?

    Found the following for troubleshooting, although won't be any help if your AOL modem is not in use anymore!

    possible as its quite a new router and I cant remember when I last tried this laptop.

    Its showing on the settings diagram.. x unidentified router x not connected
    but below that it shows the new router,

    What version of Windows? Best to use a cable (ethernet) to connect to the router. Question:- assuming Windows7, what does your Internet Properties/Connections screen look like (picture may be needed from you)

    Get there by click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet
    Click Internet Options (Internet Properties screen comes up)
    Select Connections tab
