can my landlord take me to county court in this case?

    That's not usually a good enough reason to withhold rent where a legal tenancy agreement is in place.

    There are two sides to every story and I expect your landlord is posting on a forum somewhere about their awful tenant who has disappeared owing hundreds of pounds in rent.

    Dubious morality aside, if you have no intention of coming back to live again in the UK then you will most likely never be chased for this money.

    Well he better get a move on and issue you with a Summons. I assume your still living in the awful Landlord's house for free.
