sms via wifi - not whatsapp type etc for android

hi

was wondering if any one knows of a good app for sending sms messages over wifi using a andriod smart phone

i go to the lake district several times a year which is bad for mobile signal, but there are many places which have free wifi, so i would like to send sms messages over this

i know about viber and whats app but the recipient must have this app on there device which i dont want them to do

does anyone know of any alternatives - i know o2 have tu go but i am on there network

Which network are you on?

If you were meaning that you are on the 3 network, then the Three inTouch apps allows texts to be sent via a wifi connection (in fact its geared towards this situation of having a data connection instead of mobile reception)..

Havent used it much myself...
