Yep, I know, we laughed when he told us what they wanted
He knows we will be negotiating but I'd be really interested to know what other people have paid recently so we know what might be a fair price (the last time we moved it was .5 of a percent.)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

It all varies. It can range from 0.75% if you are lucky right up to 2%.
I have previously paid between 1 and 1.5%.0 -

1.5 is what they are asking but there is no way on Earth I am going to pay £6,000 (plus Vat!) on a house they have said they expect to sell within a month!
I'm sure The last time I moved I paid .5 of a percent on £327,000 which would be about £1,635 plus VAT I think?Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Thanks, mickygg and hoploz.
Do you mind saying at what price you were selling, ie did it equate to such a huge fee? Or maybe it was even more?Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

I'm selling for 1.35%0

My EA is charging 0.75%. Most typically charge between 1 and 2%.
My EA was cheaper and has been great because they are smaller so I have had a more dedicated service although their photo taking abilities led a lot to be desired and didn't do my property justice. I still favour the service compared to some of the larger chains. I also hate the fact that some chains almost put off buyers by not taking offers unless they use their mortgage services. It has happened to me.
Of course there are also online agents who are substantially cheaper although you need to do your own viewings.0 -
I've recently paid 1.25 and 1 on two sales
These are in Surrey. The 1% was on a sale of 570k. I would love to know what fee my seller paid to the same agent, at double the value!
The 1.25% was a different agent, cheaper town, on a sale of 170k. I tried for 1% but when you look at the numbers on the low value I can see it's not worth doing for 1% of 170k!0 -

I have previously paid between 1 and 1.5%.
It was 1% on £150k and 1.5% on £350k. Different areas, so the £350k is comparable to yours. I tried to get this down but no joy.
Iirc I got 4 quotes overall, 1 quoted 1.25, 2 at 1.5 and 1 at 1.75%. They were all on the same high street and I was surprised how high they all were.
The cheaper one used paper print outs to give people rather than card so I didn't use them. Went for the middle one in the end.
I moved a few miles out from where I was and having looked at possibly selling, I have had an EA quote me 1% as they want more houses on their books.0
