2 x MPAN Number Switching

Hi
I tried to switch suppliers from Spark to Scottish Power before Christmas, but the switch was rejected due to us having 2 x MPAN numbers. Apparently Scottish Power don't have a tariff that will support this. We are all electric, with storage heaters. We have 3 meter readings and apparently this means we're on Economy 10 (when we'd always thought we were on Economy 7 prior to this).
The comparison site switching service can't tell us which suppliers support 2 x MPAN numbers. They said we have to phone up each supplier individually to find out if they support this. Has anyone had any success switching energy supplier through a switching service, or do we have to do it direct through a supplier?
Thanks
PP

You are correct, you'll have to ring up the suppliers. I'm actually surprised Spark offer a 2 mpan E10 tariff.
Your local supplier is likely to be the best bet. I know SSE/Scottish Power/E.on and EDF all offer 2 Mpan E10 tariffs, but they generally only offer them in a few regions.

This may help-indicates possibly NPower and Eon?

Normally I'd run a mile from either, but given that you're already with Spark, anything would be an improvement. Good luck with switching away from them...you'll need it.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It's proving a complete nightmare. I had no idea we were on economy 10 until the switching service told us we were!
Eon have been really helpful but are actually coming out as more expensive as they're quoting us on a tariff from October 2013!
Spark say they can lower our bills to less than this if we review payment method etc (which previously my bf was reluctant to do as he didn't want to stay with them), I'm going to get a definitive quote from them going forward.
Scottish Power were the ones that said they couldn't support our meter setup.
I'll try phoning Npower and see what they quote.
I'm desperate to get away from spark as they keep messing us around but it looks like we have very few options! (And very few good deals).0 -
Presuming that this is a rented property and you inherited Spark, you are aware that they allegedly pay a fee to agents and LL's for signing up their tenants? No free lunch, and no free laptop

No I wasn't aware of this, though I know that any of my friends that have moved into a flat where they're the energy provider has had no end of problems!0

Morning Purplepenguin88
Glad we've tried to be helpful but it looks as though we may have given you some duff information. Although we changed quite a few of the features or our complex meter (like Economy 10) tariffs in October 13, prices from this time are no longer available. They changed on 30 June 14. Most went up so probably of no use to you but thought I'd better clarify.
Also, we've only the one Economy 10 tariff available.
Sorry for the duff information Purplepenguin.

That means your either in Eastern Or the East Midlands region, as E.on are you host supplier they would be your best bet to find a comparable tariff.
EDF offer a 2 Mpan E10 in Eastern region, the inc VAT Direct Debit prices are:
Standing Charge: 18.9p
Day: 15.48p
Night: 7.11p
Heating: 8.260 -

Hiya
Just an update in case it helps anyone in the future. I contacted NPower, Eon and EDF directly, who were all helpful once I eventually managed to get to speak to the "complex meter team" at each and convince them to quote me for the E10 tariffs.
NPower couldn't help as they didn't cover my area, Eon were helpful but the tariff was so outdated that it was much more expensive than EDF. Additionally Spark were helpful in re-quoting for us, but still ended up as more expensive than EDF due to the night rates.
We started the 3 week switch process with EDF 2 weeks ago and so far so good.
