If the post is relevant it's sweet as nectar. That sounds relevent to me. Like there is one there today that points out the comp actually finishes 2 days later than what the OP had. Updating as to communications regarding site faults etc.
Operating System or browser specific is a grey area too of course. What might work for one user in IE10 on Win 7 might not work for IE11 on Win 10. Though people are trying to help in that case it can start to get really messy fast. If it was relevent to me I would find the info useful however.
I tend to draw a line in the sand and direct my sarcasm mutterings towards Wonga - and mummy blogs that are now resorting to mens stuff to diversify their fashion, food, fitness, art, kids, travel, music, wellness (what even IS wellness lol), 3 ringed circus act of PR.“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0 -
No worries.
Rest assured that I am not marketing for any company. In fact I have refused a few offers to post comps for some sites.
I have been offered gifts in the past to post some site's comps but have never done so.
Plus I do not tend to tell lies on this forum & neither do I use other comp portals to have a "dig" at MSE members via a signature on that comp portal.I also do not edit posts after the event to replicate other member's posts.
I also do not post in "I won" & lie re the "origin" of my win.In fact I very rarely post in "I won" as I win so little :-)
In conclusion I see myself as honest & above board but welcome other offers.Of course I can provide a full defence re the other "digs" :-)

I apologise - I must have been annoying you all. I was trying to help when I go to a comp on the closing day (usually a RT on twitter) where if you go to the twitter feed you can see that the winner has already been announced. I would then post the winning tweet so other compers would save time by not clicking through to twitter and retweeting an expired tweet, plus more people would press the expired button on the thread.0

You shouldn't be apologising for anything and carry on doing what you think is right. No one apart from those who run the board should be telling you to stop anything and some people will just find anything to have a whinge about. If we all started making threads about what annoys us on here we would be swamped. I say if you don't like something then just skip on by because it is probably taking up more of your precious time whinging about it than whatever time the misdemeanour took up in the first place.0 -

Keep in mind that Mods are in fact volunteer members. Everyone posts comps voluntarily. It's important to have a regular feedback loop in where people can voice how they feel. It's how open software platforms and Wikipedia manage to thrive for example.
Comp threads are not places of discussion though for this reason of 'bumping' a post back up the forum to a recent post can be seen as annoying. I think it's in the rules but am going purely on memory. I think it's in this area that sax was placing such posts that this user felt unnecessary.
Whilst some discussions such as this my seem to others as moaning, it is a highly important part of a public forum to ensure these smaller issues are allowed to be aired. It's impossible for us all to agree all the time. It tends to get things sorted or even the OP can often just back away quietly realising they have grabbed a megaphone for a somewhat uniquely held opinion.
This process allows people to not hold things in until they become so insensed that a huge list later comes out as they did not feel able to voice the issue just to keep it all on the down low. It also helps people connect with others knowing they are not alone. It builds community and trust amongst members.“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0 -
Obviously the board can be ordered so no bumping is seen, I work the board from Thread start time, Descending, Beginning, so never see bumping.
It's only an issue if you let it be an issue.

Me too - Bumping doesn't effect me at all:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
Once I have looked at a thread, I either red x it or green tick it. Once I have done either of these, I never bother looking at it again regardless of whether or not is bumped.0
