Debt collector chasing me from old house ???

Ignore the phone calls and ring BG for them to confirm your standing with them in writing.I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0

Should I add it and find out because my report is excellent at the moment ?
You need to add your old address, it's the only way to be sure whether or not there is an account set up against it.
By checking the address you aren't creating any links anywhere, or changing your 'credit score' (which doesn't actually exist by the way) - no any alarm bells or info about your new address will be sent to any lenders.
All you are doing when you check your credit file is looking at some existing information, and without entering all of your historic addresses some of that information may be missing from your view and you aren't looking at your 'complete' file. What 'should' happen is that when you add your old address nothing will really change anyway, as any accounts from old address should now be updated to new address, or closed long enough ago to have fallen off.
If you apply for something next month and only give address history for last 3 years, that address history is all they will see - they won't see the 10 year old address just because you looked at it today.
Look in the section to do with linked addresses. This is where lenders report if they have info on you at a different address (and it will tell you which lenders have provided that info). You should see bits to do with your old address in there, but the dates should reflect the time you lived there and shortly after the move, assuming you updated all of your accounts soon after. If there is anything recent associated with old address, it needs looking at.
Hope that makes some sense. You can't affect your credit file just by looking at it.0 -
Don't do anything, the debt is over 6 years old, if you owed any money, you no longer owe it, but it doesn't stop them wanting to scare you into paying it. It is not likely that you owe 10 years of unpaid bills, they would have cut the supply to the property.
You probably have an unpaid small bill and they are hoping you will pay when you no longer legally have to.0 -
I'm assuming you kept the same phone number as you had in your old house or how did these companies get this number and associate it with your previous address.0
-
I did not keep the same phone number so they have found that somehow. Nicholas, it can't be my unpaid bill as we paid up to date and then redirected the mail for 6 months to ensure no bills had slipped through the net0
-
What is the number you were told to call?
And who is the supposed DCA?
We can find out a lot from that information.0 -

I am not seeking to worry you further, but a redirection is not infallible.
We had one, and about 6 letters slipped through.
And some of OH's stuff got delivered to our old house despite redirect. Fortunately, it was actually one of his colleagues who had moved in there but I did tear a strip off the RM office as it was bank related stuff that they delivered.0 -
I think if you ignore any further calls you will keep worrying about it. If they call back just listen to what they are saying and find out what it is about. Could it even be a wrong number, or did they say your name? But just try and listen to what it is about without giving them any further current info.
You need to get to the bottom of what they are saying you owe, just in case it becomes important. You don't want to suddenly find there is an old ccj on your file, incorrectly placed there, when you are in the middle of applying for a mortgage for your perfect forever dream home, which you have been searching for 2 years for, which is what happened to us last year.0 -
They asked for me by name on the answerphone. My credit report was excellent last night so there aren't any ccj's.0
