Could it relate to one of those?
Having used Admiral, Elephant, and Diamond in recent years I can confirm the CC and DC transactions all appear in the name of the individual company, not its parent.Optimists see a glass half full

Spoke to HSBC this evening and after explaining what had happened they said they will credit my account with the money tomorrow then they will contact admiral insurance and question why it's happened and see if they have any reason not to give me my money back. But just to be aware if they do give a reason to HSBC and the bank deem it reasonable they will take the money back off me.saved £1500/£1500 by december 31st 20110

Did Admiral actually search to see if they have any policies for you or just fobbed you off? Do you have any policies that renew in December or early January? Do you have a family member that may have used your card?
Whilst you are perfectly entitled to do a chargeback the chances are that Admiral will void the insurance that has been paid for by it and if it does turn out that it was a genuine policy for you/ your family then you will have to declare you've had a policy cancelled for life.0 -
Luckily my finances are quite simple, i lodge so the only insurance i pay is my car insurance. Simple as that, i'm single and my card never leaves me. It's 100% admiral who are at fault, but to answer your first question they did fob me off and told me to just get a charge back from the bank.saved £1500/£1500 by december 31st 20110
