complete power loss in new wireless mouse x3

So the wireless mouse is all set-up with new batteries, it works a couple days, even weeks, then it dies. Turning it on and off from the back might bring it back to life for a few hours then it dies again. Using the power button to turn it on and off again turns it on for a second then it dies.

Happened three times with three different branded wireless mice. Can't be a coincidence so any idea what's going on here. Why do the wireless mice keep dying? At some point Amazon will get !!!!ed with me returning for exactly the same fault, it looks suspect...

Thanks for your help.

Oh btw it's not the batteries. thx.

    Same brand and model mouse?
There is a chance there is a duff batch, I has two Logitech ones a few months ago that eat batteries.
  • I use a Logitech M185, daily use (a couple hours a day) for over a year on the same battery.

    Windows 7 / 8?

I'd bet on USB power saving being the problem.

Usually there are two separate USB ports nearest the top of the tower, which are specifically for USB mouse+keyboard. These shouldn't ever go into power saving mode (at least that's the theory).

    Thanks for your replies guys.

The mice are different brands and different price brackets, one logitech for a tenner and the latest is microsoft which was twenty quid or so.

The laptop is quite old but it's still running well, the original mouse was a microsoft which ran for years then suddenly cut out about two months ago, we've had the problems since. I wish i'd kept the original mouse because it now looks like there was nothing wrong with it after all.

I'm guessing the laptop is acting out somehow in its dotage. It's had very light use and still runs well aside from when we are writing it sometimes skips around but this could be the bottom of our hand grazing that annoying sensor bar laptops have as we type. [this problem started suddenly too].

    Cheers all.

    It's windows 7 I believe strider, thx.

is your PC/Laptop Compatible, as i know i tried several wireless mice/keyboards even Logitech and non would work, no matter what i did. I got a polaroid wireless mouse from Asda and this is the only one that will work. this is on from 8am in the morning til midnight and sometimes i even forget to turn the mouse off and the battery lasts about a week

No issues with the old microsoft mouse or any wireless mouse in the last 4/5 years. It's very strange.
  • What brand of batteries are you using?

I've tried all different branded ones and completely new to rule out batteries, normally power plus varieties which are way above spec for the job I think.

i have used the Kodak/Sony ones you get in packs of 12 from Poundland and even the Duracell ones they sell in packs of 2, but the Duracell ones only last 24 hours more than the cheaper ones
