Compare the market giving insurance company inaccurate information?

I have just spoken to my insurance company who have asked for an additional £75 on top of my original premium (paid last week) stating that my claims details were incorrect. I got the quote through compare the market and put in information saying that I was at fault but my no claims was not affected (as it was protected). The company are claiming that compare the market sent them information saying that my no claims had not been prejudiced which basically means I was not at fault. I can't find this information in CTM details but I can find the questions where I clearly answered that I was at fault so even if I had answered in this way, they would have had two pieces of conflicting information which is usually flagged up.
I don't know where to go from here. Is there any way I can find out exactly what information was provided to both CTM and the insurance company? I answered so many questions that I may have said my no claims was not prejudiced as I thought this meant the same as unaffected but I can't confirm this as it isn't recorded in my details anywhere. However, even if I did, I still clearly stated I was at fault so with two conflicting answers surely CTM should clarify as they usually do when information is missing or conflicting?
I'm really annoyed as I answered the questions correctly but now have a further premium to pay. It has also put me off using price comparison sites as they also pointed out that the date of the accident was given as the first of the month where actually it wasn't (so more inaccurate info). CTM only ask for a month and year so I had no option to put in a date yet the insurance company are saying this constitutes inaccurate data. Where does the responsibility lie with this?

You already have a thread open on this...
They didnt pass over inacurrate information you made the wrong choice.
You chose multi car accident and not hit a single object.
If there was any doubt the you use the reference provided to contact the company and verify you chose the correct details.
You didnt do that.
Just swapped my insurance again and they ticked a yes box where i clearly said no. Waiting on the phone as i type this.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I opened a new thread because its a completely different question linked to the same thing. The company have confirmed that the multi car information was fine so no, as far as they were concerned, this was not inaccurate as there was no other option I could have chosen given the wording asking whether it was a single vehicle. They are happy with that so giving the wrong info is not now the issue or the question.
They are saying the reason is because of the info given by compare the market which was incorrect. All the other companies who gave quotes (after having received info from CTM and moneysupermarket have listed the accident as me at fault which is what I put in and is the correct info. The only company who haven't listed it as at fault are this company. They are saying it is because CTM gave them the wrong info but they seem to have given the correct info to everyone else. So the multiple vehicle thing is irrelevant and no longer an issue. I have this in writing.
The issue is that I said I was at fault on both price comparison sites and they have recorded me as not at fault and are now charging me to change it! Oh and if I cancel then they are going to charge me the £75 anyway apparently. Is this legal? And what do I do, given that all the other companies hold the correct info based on what I put in and it is only this company that has apparently been sent the wrong info.0 -
Oh and I have contacted the company but they have basically said that the info they were given is different to the info I put in. I told them I have a record of what I put in but they said it doesn't matter. I am waiting to see if CTM can send me a record of what was sent to the company but given that I am driving my husband's car until it is sorted out, I was just hoping somebody had some useful advice in the meantime. I would just cancel but as they are going to charge £75 I would rather sort it out if I can.0
