Good credit report, poor score?

Options
Hi All.
Im hoping someone can help me understand why my credit score is so low, yet my report is so good?

My Score is currently 2/5 which is pretty low... i tried to apply for a Tesco credit card and got refused.

My report has previous addresses (last 7+ years), I'm on electoral roll, i have finance on a car, a mortgage, a mobile phone etc...
All up to date, no late or missed payments, no defaults, bankruptcy or any bad money history.
My score is squeaky clean, my mortgage is £100K+, my car is £17K+.
My previous phone contacts are all paid up and all green dots.

Last time i spoke to Experian / Equifax they couldn't really explain it to me, just told me to take out a credit card or a booster card and ignore the score...

But something must be affecting me if i cannot get a Tesco card with a 5K limit, when being clean and having a mortgage etc...

Any ideas?

And yes all of my previous addresses are listed on my file, no financial associates at all.

How else can i improve it or who can i ask to investigate if its an error?

Thanks

Don't worry about the score. Just the actual data on your file.

Did Tesco give any indication as to the reason for the decline? do you know if they actually searched callcredit/noddle?

Just based on what you have said - could it be an issue of affordability? are your existing debts e.g. the car finance relatively high compared to your income?

What is your credit : debt ratio?

Do you have any other loans, cards etc and what are their limits?

    What is your annual salary?

For credit card applications, first review your chance of a successful application by using an eligibility calculator before you apply. This site has one that I can't link to, so just search for it. The calculator leaves only a soft search on your report, which isn't visible to lenders and won't affect your credit report, and it gives a run-down of your chances for the cards that are out there.
  • Found out that a credit card application that was delayed in 2013 suddenly came into play in 2014 after moving from that address - it's still active (unused)! I had no idea the credit repair cards look after themselves. :money:
