I think if were me and it really was my 'dream job' I'd go for it and take the financial hit. Might require a bit of a lifestyle change but I'm sure it would be worth it. Plus that commute won't seem half so bad if you're travelling to a job you love.

As posters have already hinted at - what price happiness?
I wish I had pursued a different path at a younger age rather than stay with a role I didnt like (and ultimately hated) for 25 years.
Obviously we only know a small part of your world but I'd say follow your dreams and live to your means.
