What rotten luck, but at least you're insured! My brother's brother in law had their house flooded by burst pipes between exchange and completion, but it was all sorted in the end. Your damage is probably more easily sorted than theirs at least.

So over the past few days we've been moving between the old flat, new house and temporary accommodation.

The house is drying out well and we have a second inspection booked this week to see what if any plastering work may be required. If additional work is needed. The vendor has to pay.

Because of the delay our building work has been pushed right back and we won't have moved in properly for a month or so.

Will try and get some pics up.

  • Me again... just when you thought it was over.... they pull you back in...

2nd inspection held. Assessment suggests that we need to re plaster the affected area to be certain of no long term issues. This is disputed by the otherside, but rejected by our solicitor as the "expert" happened to married to one of the executors?!?

    How independent.... NOT

I've lots of pics (and more details on the blog) but this is still not over!

  • Finally I can write to say... its OVER. The retention has been paid in full and we are finally rid of these horrid people.

They are no longer my problem... whooop op

They have started to suggest they want to pursue damages against their own solicitors for not telling them that the husband (non damp expert) wouldn't be able to give an opinion or that they couldn't force us to have 3 inspections after the fact.

who cares!! We are free of them.... :):)
