As above, those amount cannot be premium bonds, and even if you held the full 40k you would have to be pretty lucky to win 15 in one month. Also how would the tax office or bank know that, they probably just said that to get you off thier case!
It could be some kind of scam/ money laundering? You might get someone contacting you asking for it back.
Personally I could not spend this money, I would contact the bank again and find a way of returning it.0 -
I agree with others that this isn't likely to be PB wins. But if your bank has specifically told you they are, then I would question whether they would subsequently have grounds to ask for it back when it turns out to be something else.Optimists see a glass half full

I have no idea what they are for and came to a total of £939.610

Old premium bond wins, implying they have just found you, with some interest added for late payment?0

Unlikely - Do PSB add interest? Would they just lump sums into OP's account without telling him?0 -
If the bank refuses to do anything about it, would it help to get the proper authorities involved? It may even be the bank committing money laundering. Maybe get the police, Action Fraud, and the Serious Organised Crime Agency involved after your official complaint to the bank?Goals

Don't know about the interest but the only way more than one draw's worth of prizes would be paid into the OP's account at once would be if they hadn't previously had an address to send cheques to and the OP has recently set up an online NS&I account including the bank account number. As there has been no mention of doing that it seems highly unlikely that PBs are the source.0
