I bought a large TV off Argos store on ebay a few weeks ago and they used PF 48 large service and it was delivered fine.
Yes but their will be a difference, the OP wants to send 1 TV, Argos most likely send hundreds a week, so they will bend over backwards to help and cover argos products due to the amount of money they will be paying PF0 -
Have you tried https://www.shiply.com It is a marketplace for couriers/haulage/men with vans. If you can find someone from near you or passing you going that way anyway then you might be able to reduce the price
I managed to get a van load of items moved from London to Yorkshire for £150 as the guy was going that way and otherwise would have came back empty.0 -
Quick update to this, managed to get delivery via parcelmonkey.com using dx (night freight) apparently the same guys that get used to deliver john lewis stuff. what a mistake! My once pristine 55 inch tv showed up smashed to bits, pictures seem to indicate that it was battered in transit, looks as though it was stood up on end and has holes in the box now as if its been kicked to death.
As has been stated previously most companies will not cover loss or damage of these items, even though im pretty sure i paid for extra £ value of the item.
I have to start the process of ringing around tomorrow, do i have any rights due to these monkeys ineptitude or am i screwed? Not only did it cost me 70 odd quid to get it there they expect me to pay the same to get it back to me.0 -

I think the trouble is that most parcel drop companies are one man in van/truck. He doesnt have the time/effort/strength to faff about so stuff gets thrown around.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

goodness, I've seen some poor reviews before but:eek:
OP,It looks like the TV would be expressly excluded from insurance;
Televisions (carried on a no-compensation basis)

I'm not sure that would matter if OP took them to court, someone shipped a macbook with no compo and got paid out in full on the vent board."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Paisly Freight are often much cheaper for larger, bulky items and often over looked.
And generally it will be a TNT van that turns up.0 -
Addition to this to save making a new thread, need advice re consumer law.
After hiring Dx to deliver previously said tv through parcelmonkey and subsequently having it damaged, i complained to parcelmonkey who took no responsibility.
Contacted citizens advice who said that the courier is at fault and not the booking agent.
So i tried contacting Dx directly for months with no response, and eventually ran a small claims case. Dx then responded claiming they had received no such complaints (despite the fact i have evidence of all emails being received and also recorded post being signed for).
So im currently at the point where theres a hearing for the case where Dx have asked for the judgement to be set aside and eventually be thrown out due to them claiming they have no contractual obligation to me.
My claim against them was for £675 (the selling price of the tv), (£75 that it would cost me to have it returned, its still with the buyer for the last 5 months), and £60 that i paid in court costs.
Totalling £810, even if the hearing found in my favour this still leaves me out of pocket one damaged tv and 5 months of my wasted time and effort.
I am at the point where i am unsure who to turn to, citizens advice claim they can only give impartial advice, trading standards say to go to citizens advice. So where Dx have a full legal team on this i am now at a loss as to wether i have a case against them and wether i should seek a solicitor to help me out.
Apologies if i missed anything obvious from the boards, most advice on delivery companies seemed to be about items being delivered to you and not employing a company for a service, i did have a good rummage through the threads.
