courier for 55 inch LCD tv

Options
Ive sold and am trying to send my LG 55 inch LCD tv, dimensions 156 x 19 x 88, weight 26kg. The majority of companies wont take anything over 1.5m and most prices are in the £80 plus region with no breakage cover, including 1 ridiculous quote for £372 on anyvan.com. Seems almost impossible to send such an item for less than £100 and ive even considered driving it to the other side of the country myself simply because it would be cheaper and more trustworthy.
Anybody have experience selling such large items that can suggest a decent cheap delivery option?

why did you not look at courier prices etc. before selling it and then you could of factored that into the price.

Parcelforce offer a large service that should work for the size, I doubt any will cover breakage though.
Try and ask some of the sellers of big TVs who they use.

  • Didnt think of the proof of delivery thing, cheers for that! I check delivery prices but since the item didnt sell for 5 weeks I had to revise the listing for free delivery. The guy that was originally interested lived 30 miles away and someone else bought it before he did, 200 miles away. Just looking if anyone knows cheap delivery companies since not many take large items, despite it only being 6cm over the limit.

  • Parcel Force wont pay out for damage on large flat panel displays. We sent two commercial 40" Samsung Displays to a service centre via PF last year (boxed in manufacturers packaging) and they both arrived with smashed screens. Funny thing was, both the screens had faults (lines) and were going to be replaced anyway. Attempted to claim compo on one of the screens as the bezel was cracked and they told me they don't cover them for damage.

I bought a large TV off Argos store on ebay a few weeks ago and they used PF 48 large service and it was delivered fine.
