virgin broadband sold to Talk Talk

I read about the change over in MSE forum.I phoned virgin on 12/01/2015 to confirm changes and they told me not to do anything as it won,t happen till late February, and I will be notified before hand,I told them that I did not want to go to Talk Talk and they said we will keep you informed.
On 13/01.2015 I contacted Sky Broadband to change to them but they could not proceed because they said that I was already changing supplier.
I phoned virgin and they told me the migration to Talk Talk had already started ( all this without my Knowledge). I asked them to stop the migration and was told that it could not be stopped, the only way was to cancel my contract.I was transferred over to the cancellation team and told them to cancel my contract and supply me with my MAC code.
All this took over one and a half hours talking to numerous call centre operatives, some who I could barely understand.
How many of virgin medias 100,000 customers don,t realise what is happening and will be changed over without their consent.
I think it is appalling what they are doing.
If you did want to go to Talk Talk it would be better to cancel and change while they are offering 12 months free, which you will lose out of if you migrate over .

I had no idea this was happening untill a letter landed on the same day as a e mail.
it gets better 4 days notice my transfer was yesterday. I cant change as there is open order on my line I have not asked any one to transfer my line i am with bt and surely neither tt or virgin have the right to do this without consent.
I am in a cable area no one had contacted me about switching to cable.
my migration day was yesterday I have had no internet since 9 am yesterday. 2 hours trying to call virgin to be told their e mail of 20 min outage was wrong and it would be back 7 last night its still off and the biggest joke i asked for mac code and cant get it untill transfer completed
  • I got a letter from Virgin media today about the migration to Talk Talk saying there is no need to take any action as its an automatic process. There was no mention of being able to cancel the contract or the fact that if I actually wanted to go to Talk Talk myself they were offering a 12 months free internet deal which virgin does not give you on the change over.
Its obscene what Virgin are doing, there was no advance notice, no dedicated help line, no compensation and no consideration of the hassle involved with cancelling.
Once you have been migrated you will be on a 2 year contract that you can,t cancel without a hefty fee.....

Its a disgrace If I had know they were doing this I would have left them straight away, I stayed with the poor service from VM as I didnt want to get in a new contract as I am moving home, now that has been forced on me.
Talk Talk have had some very good deals on top cash back and currently they have a 75 quid voucher but its not available if you are switching from virgin media, So add that to the 90 quid top cash back we wont get either and they have a huge new customer base and cant even tell us what they are going to be charging us.
They currently have a free broadband deal bet that wont be available when our accounts are switched over.

Automatic process is a laugh My phone went dead 9.05 yesterday morning, that came back on again in about 20 minutes but the internet..... 35 hours and 3 hours worth of phone calls i finally got back on line!
And I still don't have the mac code, I asked yesterday they cant give the mac until you have migrated, I asked today I could have got in another que which apparantly was very long (yes I bet it was ) so that will have to be another long call tomorrow.
If you do need to phone support make sure you have plenty of time, when the call was answered today it said a wait of ten minutes 45 minutes later it was answered! Yesterday I had to abandon the first call as it took a lot longer than expected!
  • I reported to matter to OFCOM who said virgin were in there rites to sell.
I mentioned about losing e.mail addresses etc but turns out OFCOM
    is a toothless animal.

The title should be changed as its misleading, its the adsl side of VM that's being sold to TT, it was reported last year about the sale.
