What weight is overweight for you

I'm 4'11" and have a very light frame. I start to feel too heavy for me at 6st 12lb.
When I was in my 20s my preferred weight was 6st 4lb. Now at 45 that feels too light. I like to be around 6st 7lb - 6st 9lb. (I'm 6st 11lb ATM - I've been laid up with shingles for three weeks and inactive).
I think according to the BMI I am just within the lower normal range. I know the lower end of my preferred weight puts me as underweight. Glad I wasn't aware of BMI when I was younger - I'd have been paranoid back then! Now I take it with a pinch of salt.To Do 2015

My wife is in the underweight range on the BMI scale when she is at the lower end of her preferred weight range.
I was initially concerned but after doing some research into how the BMI charts are compiled, I was relieved to discover that being underweight actually puts you at a lower than average risk of suffering from chronic illness. On the other hand, having a chronic illness puts you at higher than average risk of being underweight.
As long as you and your doctor are happy that you are healthy, don't worry about it.0 -
I'm pretty sure I must be in the healthy range, but BMI is a bit funny and doesn't really work for very short or tall people. I'm short, and muscley, and I weigh more than I look at the moment. If I do more cardio (like in the summer) I tend to naturally lose more but look the same if that makes sense? The muscles and the mass is still there, I just lose a little body fat.
I have a feeling (I haven't weighed in a while) I'm around 9s7lb but I'm fitter than I have been in a long time. The charts say I should be 6s7 - 9s3. That's nuts. I was skinny as a teen but weightlifting as an adult has made me quite heavy. I have a flat tummy more days than not - but my bust and hips are extremely stubborn and just won't change without starvation. I'm quite muscley and regularly do chin ups and pull ups so can't be that overweight if I can pull my own body weight!0 -
I'm 5'6 and currently weigh 14st 13lbs, I wear a size 16-18. I know I'm obese still- I used to weigh nearly 20 stone and was morbidly obese- now I'm just, well, obese
Apparently a healthy weight for my height is 8st 3. If I was 8st 3 I would look like a walking skeleton! My lowest weight was 14st 4 and allegedly I looked ill- I was a 12-14 at that point.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
I'm another on the small side. Weighed 7 stone for years, normal is now a little above that. If I drop below 7 stone it's because I'm stressed/ill and not eating, so need to do something. I've never weighed more than 71/2 stone, so if I got to 8 that would also be unusual and I'd look at my eating habits. I normally get on the scales a few times a year and go more on if my clothes fit or not. It's whatever is usual for you, regardless if what the tables say.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I'm about 10 stone and have hardly changed in 10yrs or more. To be a perfect weight i could do with losing a few pounds but have never been on a diet and feel i'm ok as i am.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I am 5'11" and am currently overweight at 12st 12lbs. That makes me a size 14 (closer to size 12 on top as I am a pear). I feel better at 11 stone 7 ish. Any less and my collar bones stick out too much and you can visually count my ribs. I am 'blessed' with large backside and thighs so I have to strike a balance between not being too big below the waist and not being too scrawny above it.
I went for my first jog in about 5 years today to see if I can tone up a bit that way - I walk miles every day with the dogs but its not enoughI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
