Hi there,
After having credit issues 6 and a half years ago and getting some defaults, i logged in today and see i have a score of 999 on experian! I'm so happy, it's taken forever to get there (although i know the score itself isn't everything...) and i am pleased that i have a completely unblemished history for 6 years now.
I have one question/problem though..
I am in the middle of applying for a mortgage at the moment. I had a balance on my credit card of almost 2k which i paid off in full in December in preparation for my mortgage application, however my credit card company (HSBC) haven't updated my credit record since 30/11/14 so it's still showing as me having the debt on experian?! Is this normal? Does anyone know how long it takes for them to update, i thought it was done monthly?

It can take up to 3 months for them to update the CRA files.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0

Score of 999 isn't everything is a slight understatement. Its NOTHING...
A lender doesnt see or know experian have you that number.
Check the threads where people with a score of 999 get refused credit.

The credit card balance entry is unlikely to be an issue for the mortgage. They will also see what date the account was last updated as well as the balance.
With a mortgage application they may sometimes ask for more up to date information- which you could obviously supply with the card statement.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

thanks for the feedback.
Companies usually send us information on a monthly basis for the previous month, so this means that any amendments made to your account may take a few weeks to show on your credit report.
As you've mentioned you haven't received an update for your account since 30/11/14, I would like to look into this for you could you please email me your details (name/dob/address) so I can investigate the reasons why the account hasn't been updated.
Following Tixy and your comment, you may want to provide the lender for your mortgage application with a recent card statement showing the balance whilst you are waiting for the lender of your account to send the updated information.
Kind Regards

Thanks for your help James, and others.. since other folk also haven't had HSBC update their credit files i guess it's just a general thing, will wait for it to get done and supply credit card statements to my financial advisor in the meantime.single parent, debt free apart from mortgage!

I had the same problem with a Sainsburys loan. My mortgage went to offer but the offer shows a condition of settling that debt. I have done this and it took two months to update the credit file. I think this was because they owed me money so they didn't update until the account was cleared of credits too.
In short, don't worry, your IFA should notify them and they will ask for evidence if they want it.0
