Audi a1 clutch failure

Seeing as it's not been answered, i'll guess it's slipping.

You can burn a brand new clutch out in about 5 minutes if you wanted on purpose, so it would be hard to prove to the garage it had worn out prematurely and it wasn't the cause of your driving style.

The 50% discount sounds better than nothing but might be worth pushing them a bit to see if you can get a bit more (60 - 75%)

Hi, car was revving high but not picking up speed, digital dashboard was showing in second gear when car was in third when I took the car in to dealer, thanks

I found this thread on Google where someone had an A1, with much higher mileage and Audi replaced it under warranty.

    It's only 280 miles a week.

Clutches can wear out very quickly.

In response to how you drive, no one is ever going to say "I hold the car on the clutch at traffic lights and junctions, roll out of road ends in 3rd and let the car plod upto speed, then get into 6th at 30mph... I also use the clutch as a foot rest inbetween gear changes.."

Everyone says they are a good driver. But in 15 years of sitting in the passenger seat with other people, I've yet to see one..

Has the OP owned the car from new or recently bought it?

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, there's also a big difference between being a good driver and being mechanically sympathetic.
“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You sure the display's not the suggested gear you're supposed to be in, not the gear you currently have selected, could explain why the clutch is now worn ;)

Many people drive in a gear not optimum for their engine speed, but don't need new clutches this often.

I'm guilty of driving in to higher gear often, my clutches still last 2-3x that of ops, with a much richer combination of urban and rural.

I'm betting it's the DMF more than the clutch, but the dealership will probably say it's the clutch so they can charge the customer for the work AND then charge Audi under the warranty. Audi then recover the cost by shafting the company that supplied the clutch/DMF assembly.

Genuine warranty faults, they'll try to hide from the customer if they can, they don't want the bad press.

It's ironic that the media dragged Toyota through the mud over one fault, but the German manufacturers fix recall issues silently when the cars come in for service. The owners don't find out, but they can drive away in a car that's had major work carried out.

I'm so glad to be out of the Automotive industry!

    What a load of crap.
Do you realise what it's worth to a franchised dealer if Audi found out they where pulling tricks like that? They wouldn't be a franchised dealer much longer put it that way. Also, all safety recalls HAVE to be done, therefore owners MUST be informed through DVLA records incase they never go back to the dealer again, which some don't. So the owners will know about recalls being carried out.

I doubt youl actually believe any of that as you conspiracy theories are much more interesting granted, but it's probably best your out of the motor trade if you think this is the way manufacturers and dealers carry on.

Hi, no the indicator suggests what gear you should be in and also would say to adjust to third with a plus sign when required and when you did it did not change on the monitor and would sometimes say you had gone back to first
