well i vote with my purse and if they stop value range etc I go elsewhere. This thread does save money as it highlights how big supermarkets (in league) rip us off. I find that lidl and aldi are better for cheaper ranges now than tesco0

Be careful if you buy 'yellow stickered' items in Asda. Three times so far this year they have been scanned at the full price, because there is more than one barcode on the pack and only one has been covered over. The checkout operator doesn't notice the reduced sticker and scans the uncovered barcode, resulting in a trip to customer services to get a refund for the overcharge, which is a bit of a pain when you've paid by card.
So check your reduced items to make sure that all the original barcodes are covered over, or if not keep an eye on the item going through the scanner, and always check your receipt before you leave the shop - so annoying having to traipse back from the far end of the car park!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Only been credited back the amount of the overcharge. No mention of anything extra. Good point! Looks like our store at least have changed their policy then.

Maybe you have to ask for the £2 giftcard ?0 -
Maybe you have to ask for the £2 giftcard ?
You certainly do have to ask for the £2 " goodwill gesture ". Last time I was told that " you only get this if you have been inconvenienced "
I would have thought that being overcharged and then having to wait for a refund was inconvenience in itself.
Do not think this is Asda policy but down to the specific store/ assistant because it says on the Asda website that you are entitled to a £2 goodwill gesture if you have been overcharged.0 -
I have not entered the forums before, not having the confidence to join in but today watching what is being said here on this thread I feel the need to get involved. I thought that this whole website was about money saving, debt solving, supporting each other to these ends. I have come on here tonight looking for cheap meat and have found a lot of very !!!!!y self satisfied individuals who should know better. Apologies for any minor spelling mistakes or errors of grammar, I just thought someone should remind you what this site is supposed to be about.

Having used forums for many years Jany I tend, now, to just read having received several "not very nice" comments in the past. I don't often bother posting but felt the need to reply to you because you wanted to join in and probably now wonder why you bothered. You only have to see the comments received by the OP (some of which have apparently been deleted says the OP). Some posts are edgy, to say the least, as there are a few people who feel their opinions matter and others don't. Just because someone disagrees with you it doesn't warrant the sarcasm and they should read the "Etiquette" guide at the top of the page. I know you don't come on here just "looking for cheap meat" as pelirocco points out and I Have Spoken - read your comments again and see how it might appear as sarcasm to someone who doesn't have the "confidence to join in". Remember, they don't know you and your sense of humour. There are some extremely useful comments in this thread but its spoilt by the few who seem to think they're being clever or funny by making these comments.
And, yes. Before someone points it out, I know these are my opinions and I'm sure folks will have their opinion on my opinions but I don't think this forum is encouraging new members. There was another recent post from Muzikmaster which received similar from one member who was, thankfully, given short shrift. So come on guys. Support these new posters and try to be a little kinder. Respect opinions even if you disagree. And Jany - don't be put off to post again. I'm certain you have lots of useful ideas to contribute.0 -
do what I do and vote with my feet I'm afraid I foud out years ago that shops were there to make a living and not provide their customers with free or reduced food I have no loyalty to any supermarket now and shop where I wish and buy what I want to.I use Waitrose and Aldi and Lidls rarely Sainsbobs now and virtually never Toscos although my nearest supermarket is toscos a mere three minute walk away.Aldis is 5 mles away and Lidls 9 miles and W'rose 12 miles and I am happy to use them for what I want /need.w'rose has decent offers and excellent quality and a free take-out coffee
:) Lidls and Aldis I shop in on a monthly basis if needed. But they are all in business to make money and you have freedom of choice where you shop.I use my small local g'grocer and wet-fish shop and also electrical dealers for light bulbs or batteries The big stores can go whistle dixie as far as I'm concerned

Sainsburys.
they have just launched their new lower ordinary prices promotion on many products. which is actually a load of old cobblers!
now while some seem cheaper the majority actually work out dearer.
the main items seem to be within their meat section.
they seem to have scrapped they 3 for £10 offer. which has now been replaced with the lower ordinary price scheme.
but.
the packs are now either the same size/weight or less. plus the packs are actually dearer in price. a pack used to equate to £3.33 but now most are £3.60.
They are now £3.30.
Though puzzled as to why the 5% fat mince is £3.70.
Does anyone know which supermarket sells 5% mince cheaper? Aldi don't sell itThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
