Hello.
I am in my last month of an 18 month broadband contract with BT. At the same time I took line rental but that was for a year but I am still with BT.
A week ago I got a letter saying if I don't renew broadband I will be charged £6.75 a month extra and I will move to a loyalty discount rate for broadband.
Yesterday I called BT and told them this and I said I could get a cheaper deal elsewhere. After a few mins on hold CS said cheapest he could do was £36 a month. I am paying £42 for unlimited broadband, evening/weekend calls, line rental , caller display and choose to refuse. I said no and asked for a MAC and that will take 5 days to issue.
I would like to get some advice on a new provider. I require unlimited broadband, anytime calls, caller display. I will be getting a BT8500 phone so don't need choose to refuse.
I have Sky tv after getting a new 12 month deal for £30 a month.
1. If I go with Sky(was until 18 month ago) will this effect my current discount with them.
2. Do Sky or any others allow 1899.
3. What are the routers like as my homehub 4 has been ok.
4. On MSE It says 0870 calls are free with Sky but not 0845 but on Sky's website it states they are included.
5. I call Spain, Ireland and USA maybe once a month but I have Delight mobile and calls cost 1-2p a min. Will I be better to use that or find a provider that allows over-riders?
6. As for cashback I have been let down by Quidco in the past for insurance deals and cashback would be nice so whats be best, safest way to go about this please.
I know this is a long post but thank for any help you may give me.

No it shouldn't as they tend to treat the TV and BB/Line rental separately.
However do ask Sky to be sure.2. Do Sky or any others allow 1899.
Not by using the short 1899 access code. You can still access it using the 0808 or 020 numbers but some calls will be dearer, especially the UK as it will be 1p per minute as opposed to 0p per minute.3. What are the routers like as my homehub 4 has been ok.
I never had any problems with the Sky router.4. On MSE It says 0870 calls are free with Sky but not 0845 but on Sky's website it states they are included.
They are included and have been for quite a while. It used to only be 0845 numbers.5. I call Spain, Ireland and USA maybe once a month but I have Delight mobile and calls cost 1-2p a min. Will I be better to use that or find a provider that allows over-riders?
I still used 1899 etc for Canada and the price was the same so it's down to destination.6. As for cashback I have been let down by Quidco in the past for insurance deals and cashback would be nice so whats be best, safest way to go about this please.
Cashback is never guaranteed but best way is to ensure all cookies are cleared before putting the order through. I use a separate browser just for Quidco/Topcashback. Even then it doesn't always work and I was declined cashback when I added Sky Talk Anytime.0 -
Thank you jem16 for replying.
I had forgot about using 0808 and 020 numbers for 1899 and others as I just use 1899 for daytime calls and 0870/0845 and as I am with BT never had a reason to use the other number.
The other comments you made something to look into.
there are quite a lot of options out there to look at.0
