It's like a drive that runs along the side of our house that would lead to another 4 - at this stage we believe they contribute towards the bulk if any maintenance is needed as they use it daily whereas we never have to as we have our own private driveway too...
So will you need to contribute to the maintenance of it as well, even though you wont use it as its on your boundary ? Nothing is easy is it ..... ?!?!!0 -
I believe we would yes!! Waiting for more info at this stage...
May well end up having to try for third time lucky at this rate!! :-s0 -

If the Council were to refuse to adopt the road, the other option would be for the residents to form a management committee, then wind it up and make the Crown the owners. This happened in the Prettygate area of Colchester a year or so back.
Within 2 days of the road being handed to the Crown, the Crown contacted the Council with an order to bring the road up to the required standards within 28 days.
Looks like your Council is very much on the ball with road adoptions.
Well done.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thanks Patman ... :-) - Useful info provided there, I have never heard of this one... and would probably have been a good tactic to employ next. Yes - they've not been too bad; After some research, I had began to worry that this could take months (if not years !!) after some of the original posts that I had read.... My council is St Helens Borough Council in Merseyside. They sort of hummed and hawed at first then when they realised I wasnt going away, then they started to engage....
Personally, I'm quite pleased with myself over this victory - considering my present solicitor for the sale wasnt overly helpful (or indeed interested !!) and the past one who did the conveyancing when I purchased in 2007 just covered their tracks with a load of BS when I contacted them in January when it all came to light....
Nightmare... through no fault of our own really0
