Question about tyres
Having checked the tyre tread on the front and back tyres I noticed the front tyres are different to those at the back, the fronts are 175/65 r14 82t and the rear are 175 65 r14 82H. I need to replace the 2 front ones so do I go like for like ? and does it matter if the rear ones are different ?

They refer to the speed ratings
T is rated for up to 118mph and H is rated for up to 130mphAll your base are belong to us.0 -
The difference is in the speed ratings: H rated is up to 130mph and T rated is up to 119 mph.
For road driving it should make no difference at all - we have a 70mph limit after all That being said, insurers may try to count tyres that are rated lower than the manufacturer's recommendation as a modification. Higher rating isn't a problem for that, so check what your handbook says should be fitted and make sure you buy at least that rating.
Curiously, the MOT doesn't impose any speed requirement on tyres for private cars - you can quite legally drive round on A1 rated (3mph max sustained speed) if you really want to and can find them to fit!
In practice you'll be hard pressed to find a car tyre rated less than S (113mph)0 -
Two of them have probably been changed previously., different speed ratings can be different prices.
I would want all four the same rating and as H is the higher rating no problem fitting two new ones.0 -
So in essence it doesnt matter then.0

Thats what I was going to do, it was the ones on the back being a speed rating of H rather than a T.0 -
Don't even worry about it.
Only if the sizes are different do you need to make sure both tyres on the axle are the same size. Other don't worry, it's the speed rating that's all. Unless you plan on racing the car or speeding beyond belief any tyre the correct size can go on0
