In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. Ignoring the rent increases for the moment.
Your exLL doesn't appear to be in a very good position, as he will not be able to hold back any money from your registered deposit, also, he would be a fool to take you to court for any other money as he would not win.
He has no proof (written or photographic) of the condition of the property on your occupation of it, therefore he has No defence, therefore No case.
Claim your deposit back in full.I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0 -

They'll probably learn soon enough they don't stand a chance.0 -
Our LL tried charging for damages not done by us when we moved out.
Went straight to the deposit scheme, raised a dispute, filled out their form and recieved a cheque for the full amount shortly after. Simple.0 -
how frustrating for a tenant of six years.... Six years is a lot of wear and tear for pretty much everything in the house. You kind of hope he gets a crap tenant next time.0
