Parking Charge Notice - incorrect vehicle registration number

The incorrect reg is a red herring. It makes no difference, unless they didn't take photos and can't correct the error. However, they often do take photos so there is a chance that they will correct their mistake and send you the threatening letters.
Wrong location is only relevant if the land falls outside of their contract, even better if it's actually a public highway, that would DEFINITELY fall outside of their contract.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
So should my first contact me to request a photo from them? If they have one I then appeal and if they don't have one then I can ignore it. If they do have a photo do they have to provide it?0

I've told you what to do in post #7.
I wouldn't ignore it, Cheetham will have 6 years to decide if he wants to sue you and you might want to move house in that time too. People have been known to get CCJs from undefended claims sent years after the event to old addresses, although to be honest this is rare.
Get it killed off properly now.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Hear what you're saying ManxRed and thanks again. My thinking was that if they don't have a photo why should I show my hand giving them my correct reg number and alerting them to the issue. Without a photo they cannot establish who the keeper is. However, if they have a photo then I go down the appeal route which is fine.
If you or anyone else on the forum can tell me if they have to provide any photos that would be much appreciated.0 -
It's up to you but leasing companies more often than not pay the charge and then recharge it back to the keeper plus an admin fee.Hear what you're saying ManxRed and thanks again. Which gives you another expensive hurdle to jump, and the PPC will never refund the money once paid.0 -
I'm not sure of the details of your company's leasing arrangements nor the content of any agreement, but if you ignore, and they later correct the reg and then ask your leasing company for the money, there's always a danger that they simply pay up, charge your employer, who deducts it from your wages.
They shouldn't really do that, in all likelihood it would be an unlawful deduction, but you might end up having to have a spat with your own HR team over the money and that might not be a great position to be in.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Update and progress
- Found out land is owned by Elan Housing and wrote to an MD yesterday. He replied today and has passed on to correct area MD and is looking into it.
- confirmed with my employer Fleet Team that they would not pay automatically and would email me any correspondence the same day they received any which is standard practice for my employer.
- Also wrote to UKPPO by email to try and establish whether or not they had a photo and they replied dropping the charge. Copies of correspondence to and from

Well done, that was the best outcome you achieved there. :beer:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
