O/S Daily Monday 12th January 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, but looks damp underfoot and very blustery.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work.

Lunch out yesterday was lovely as always, very good quality food, service and venue, not cheap though. Tonight dinner will be chicken in a mushroom sauce with egg fried veg rice.

Today is my first day of my weeks’ leave so I’ll be cracking on with the washing, drying and ironing and housework, I have several jobs on the list that need doing. I’ll be steadily working my way through them, the kitchen is a real pit and needs attention.

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning,

Happy Birthday to anyone who has one today, hope all your Birthday wishes come true.

It's been a great weekend, I can't believe that it is Monday already. Last week I did 6 NSD, which I am actually really proud of. Yesterday, I renewed the website domains, I also set up one for the Sunday School, which the kids in my group loved, they are 11 - 14, so I like to encourage them to be more creative. A couple of them sent through some material to include on the site, so it seems to be having the desired effect.

Tonight Daddy Rivett and I are going to the Cinema to see Whiplash, I managed to get free tickets from Film First, which I was quite surprised at, as usually the London tickets get snagged fast.

I am going to try and bag another 6 NSD this week. I also have to go to the bank today. Is there any time for work at all?

Hope everyone else has a productive day, see you all later on.

    Morning All

Another horrendous day weatherwise, rain and wind again. I usually sleep with my window open but it is far too noisy with the wind blowing so have got up feeling a little blocked up again.

Washing just finishing, DW emptied, eggs boiled for my salad at lunchtime. Thought there was more lentil soup in the freezer but we must have had it all. That will be a tin of tomato for DD then!

Went to friends across the road last night for a very nice steak pie dinner, will have roast chicken tonight as that was what I had planned for us for last night. (Bought a couple of chickens from Waitr0se as they are on offer, one went in the freezer).

Tried to sew together the cardigan I knitted and didn't have a clue where all the bits went, they seem to be odd shapes at the top and didn't fit together so I am taking it apart, already knitted 1 hat and have started another. I can use the wool up by knitting scarves and hats, what a waste of time. Maybe if I hadn't left it for a year I would have stood a better chance!

Anyway, another week, hope you all have fun and stay safe. Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Blowing a gale here and we have a weather warning for later on for flooding, take care out there everyone.

We had the most fantastic weekend the most beautiful afternoon tea with tiny sandwiches, scones jam and cream and loads of tiny beautiful cakes, it really was delish, then we went for our massage facial and manicure and back to the hotel for a rest before heading out that night for dinner and loads of cocktails, it really was a great weekend I have been very spoilt by my dd !

Back to reality today off to work and dd back to uni, She has been here about a month and I shall really miss her.

Dinner tonight will be something with chicken breasts, OH got two packs out yesterday instead of one, so will have a think about what to do with them.

Have good days all and take care in this weather xx
  • Morning all, how much longer is this wind and rain forecast for!! I too like to sleep with the window open but agree it's far too noisy to do so.

Changed my plans of lounging in all day by the fire yesterday and ventured to TKMaxx, just for a browse! Arrived to find a big clearance underway! Lots of tat, as usual in their clearances, but managed to pick up a few decent bargains which will come in for birthday presents through the year. Particularly impressed with the pure sheepskin slippers I got for DS's partner. £12 reduced from £50! Almost tempted to keep myself as a perfect match for my dressing gown and they feel oh so warm on! But who could afford to pay the original price these days?! Also picked up a few bargain buys for DGDs - designer knickers and socks, no less, for £1 and £2 a pack and some party type shoes for £5. Ended up spending £55 which I wouldn't have spent if I had stayed in as planned!

Don't know yet what our plans are for today. We usually try to get out most days for a walk, or even just a stroll, but it's not much fun in this weather. I'll see what MrTA wants to do once he gets up.

Have a good day everybody and take care x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Another wet and windy day here, it's starting to really affect my SAD even though I have a special light. Going to power through today though and clean clean clean. My kitchen needs scrubbing so I'm going to start with that. I've ordered a load of cleaning supplies from Tesco which should be coming in the next hour or so then I'm going to roll up my sleeves and crack on. I also have some of the never ending washing to do and the dishwasher to empty.

Tea tonight is going to be a tuna and courgette concoction in a cheese sauce with some rice. Hubby refuses to eat tuna so I have a couple of steak bakes for him. I may bake a cake as well, will have to look through some recipes.

DD13 is staying home today as she has a temperature and sore throat but I will put her to use if she's up to flicking a duster around.
It hasn't stopped her arguing with her sisters anyway!

Right, I'm off to sort out the cupboard under the sink. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Good Morning everybody,

Today i have a long list of tasks to get through. We had a brief respite from the wind yesterday. I was really disappointed when it came back so its raining and blowing gales again. Getting a bit bored with this weather now.

i had better go and make a start on my list and hope that the power stays on.

Have a great day, stay safe and warm, take care

    regards

    Morning everyone.

Storm raged all day and all night! And I can still hear it now. Will probably head back down to Glasgow later this afternoon as the weather forecast for overnight is not brilliant - don't want to be stuck 90 miles from work again. Still, the power and comms haven't gone again so that's good. Just need to get out.

Hope everyone is cosy away from the weather.

    Good Morning all,

Dumpling, Good luck with the cleaning today. Sorry, that you are struggling, SAD is horrid. I too, find that cleaning can help, once one is motivated to start.

Apologies for being missing again, but am very busy with shredding and decluttering over 20 years of stuff. Nearly at the end of the shredding now :j then need to start decluttering old china, bedding etc.

Easy meal tonight of shepherds pie.

Was ill over the weekend, vomiting that triggered a bad fibro flare and the dreaded costochondritis.

Must get up and get going.

    Take care all.
