I was just looking on this forum and spotted a complaint about http://www.lottery.co.uk
The link to the complaint is here:

This is not Camelot, nor the National Lottery. It is a website which, to many, could easily appear to be the genuine Camelot site.
What amazes me is that this website carries panels which show genuine National lottery games which you can click on and thay take you seamlessly to the official Camelot site. Users could therefore easily think that they were on the official Camelot site.
Scroll to the bottom of the page, and they have written the following :
The Lottery Company and Lottery.co.uk are affiliated with Camelot UK Lotteries Limited for marketing purposes only.
So just glancing at the statement can quite easily read :
The Lottery Company and Lottery.co.uk are affiliated with Camelot UK Lotteries Limited
They are claiming affiliation to Camelot, but surely affiliation would suggest that they are connected with, or even run with approval of Camelot.
How can they get away with this statement?
Is Camelot going to do anything about this?

If so, could it be that Camelot are aware and either feel that lottery.co.uk are doing no harm or are actually adding to the marketing efforts of Camelot themselves?
I am not sure what the phrase "for marketing purposes only" actually means. Are you?
Surely Camelot would only "do something about this" if they thought lottery.co.uk were doing something which was somehow harming Camelot.0 -

I would imagine if people have gone to the effort of scrolling to the bottom you would notice it also says:The content and operations of this website have not been approved or endorsed by Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, the National Lottery Commission or SLE.whitegoods_engineer wrote: »They are claiming affiliation to Camelot, but surely affiliation would suggest that they are connected with, or even run with approval of Camelot.

Probably because it's true and they are. The links to lotto and euromillions go straight to the national lottery site. No doubt lottery.co.uk gets paid by Camelot for each click through/purchase, so therefore they are an affiliate.whitegoods_engineer wrote: »Is Camelot going to do anything about this?
Doubtful, as I imagine lottery.co.uk generates a fair bit of revenue for them.0 -
From that website:
The Lottery Company Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under the number 2949433, and the website lottery.co.uk are both owned by Take That Ltd., also a private company registered in England and Wales, but under number 2147008. Take That Ltd. are not connected with Camelot plc or any other lottery operator in any way - independence of information is therefore guaranteed. The website links seamslessly to the Camelot site for games, you say?
And they aren't charging any more for those games, or taking a commission?
What's the problem?
Incidentally, they always manage to post the lottery numbers much quicker than Camelot's own site.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
