lottery.co.uk.....

Hello, this is probably my fault, but nonetheless, I am still wound up.

I signed up to lottery.co.uk gambling website as initially I thought it was the national lottery website, which I had signed up to previously but deactivated my membership.

I occasionally have a flutter on the scratchcards, winning a tenner plus my original stake back (nice little earner...) Anyway....

signed up to lottery.co.uk, put my card details in and deposited £10 t play with. A sign flashed up, asking if I wanted to get a bonus for depositing a tenner, or I could get a larger bonus for depositing more. I specifically clicked 'no' as when I have signed up to William hill, I had to win about £700 before I could withdraw any of my winnings due to their 'bonus'.

I won £10, and immediately withdrew it to my bank account. I then won another tenner, and withdrew that too. I received an email today from the customer services as follows:

Please kindly note that, our Finance Department is unable to process your withdrawal request placed on 03/01/2015, reason being that you have to fulfil the bonus wagering requirements first.

The bonus you received has to be wagered 50 times, as per article 2.4 of the bonus policy. You have received a total of £ 10 in bonuses.

As noted under our bonus policy each game has a different contribution towards the bonus amount:
Wagering Contributions
Game Category
Game Contribution
Video Slots ,Slots, Scratch card, Keno and all other games that do not appear in the table
100%
All versions of Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette & Poker table games
10%
All versions of Video Poker, Power Video Poker
5%

Examples:
· Wager £500 on Slots, the entire £500 (100%) contributes towards the wagering requirements.
· Wager £500 on Roulette, £50 (10%) contributes towards the wagering requirements.
As such you have managed to complete £ 43 and you are still required to accumulate £ 457.
Please cancel all your withdrawal requests and return the amounts to your bankroll. To cancel your withdrawal simply login to Lottery.co.uk, go to the cashier and click “Cancel Withdrawal”. A new box will open for you to confirm cancellation.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I replied explaining that I specifically ticked 'no bonus' when requested, but there was still a ten pound bonus added to my account to play with. I also said that I thought they had to provide terms and conditions at the point of sale- I have yet to receive a reply.

Bit annoyed, I know its only £20, but what a rip off.

<snip a big chunk of text which says you can't withdraw your winnings>

What exactly was the question that you replied 'no' to just after depositing £10?

Only it appears to me that the questions that you have described required two 'no' answers otherwise you would get 'a bonus on £10' or 'a bonus on a larger amount'.
Perhaps you needed to reply 'no' to each question.

It came up with a box, that said 'deposit £10, we'll match it, deposit £20..etc or there was a small box to tick to say 'continue without bonus'. I ticked it, but when I looked,I saw they had added a ten pound bonus.

ach well, Ive emailed them now and told them to cancel my membership

Please note that our terms & conditions clearly outline the rules when playing with a bonus and the amount of wagering that is required. It is of course possible to have a bonus removed if a player notifies us before they deposit or they start playing.

It’s a default setting for players to be able to receive bonuses and when you register you’re not given the options to opt out of bonuses, however you can choose to opt out of promo emails.

In order for the bonuses to be disabled you needed to have contacted us before you started playing.

I have also closed your account as you requested in your earlier email.

The above is what I received in response to my emails. So apparently, you have to contact them and wait for them to disable the bonus before playing any games. what a joke!

Do their T&Cs make this clear before you sign up?

There were no t's and c's that flashed up etc. Its ridiculous that only now they point out that I should have contacted them prior to depositing y money to say I didn't want the bonus. who in their right mind does that? I thought bonuses were optional anyway?!

Surely there was a box to tick that you had read the T&Cs? And a link to those T&Cs near the box?

If you ticked and didn't actually read the T&Cs, well ........

    http://games.lottery.co.uk/bonus-policy.asp

1.1 Once you make a first deposit, equal to or greater than the minimum required deposit (the “Initial Deposit”) on Lottery Games, you immediately receive a 100% match-up bonus on that deposit (the “Deposit Bonus”).

Assuming I have the right section of the site (Games - can't find anywhere else to deposit and play scratch cards) then the use of the word "immediately" does suggest that this is done without asking you to opt in/out

This is a dirty trick for gambling sites. It effectively hands you 10 pound free, but gives you a 50x wagering requirement on games which have a larger house edge. If we say 96% return for slots, and you need to wager 500 quid then mathematically you will lose 4% of that = 20 pounds. So basically, you get this 10 pound "free" but you are expected to go on to lose 20 pound overall with a 500 pound slot stake. Thus, they can therefore give out an unlimited number of 10 pound bonuses because it all works out mathematically in the long run!

I agree that its a dirty trick. They reckon you have to contact them prior to depositing to opt out of the bonus.... who is going to do that? so, because of a £10 bonus that I didn't want, I have to win £500 and play with all of it before I can even withdraw any winnings....

I don't see why you are complaining about a website that you had no intention of being on in the first place; the key to this issue is in the first few words of your first post! Whilst being cross with yourself is very understandable, it doesn't do any good to get 'wound up' (your words).
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
