the OP statedjeff_chandler wrote: »I bought my I phone charger from e bay and it has been serving it's purpose since. Yesterday however when I plugged in the lead a message on my I phone stated it didn't recognise the charger as it wasn't a genuine apple product. How can this be?
so the OP mentioned CHARGER and not Leads0 -

I should have been more specific and said "The Lead that slots into the phone which charges up the phone.
I have removed the lead from the wall plug and the phone but the I phone wants nothing to do with it. Used my sons which is an original apple lead and it charges no problem.
Seems like I shall have to purchase an apple original lead.
Thank you for all the replies.0 -

You could always buy a lightning microUSB adapter and then you could use any microUSB cable with your phone. I have been using one since I bought my iPhone 5 (and have since used it with the 5S and now 6).
Original from Apple:

(You can sometimes find the original one in CEX for £4).
Cheaper one from MobileFun:

I second d123's comment.
£6.99 from this seller. Found cheaper but based on Ebay feedback, other one is likely fake been sold as genuine. This one is likely genuine.

plus...
I would get a genuine HTC micro USB cable, which I find good quality.

£6.99 +£2.25 = £9.24
If you have a micro USB cable already then you can just get the adapter.
Alternatively, buy a Belkin or CEX have the cable for £6....I assume they know how to spot genuine ones and that's what they stock. Certainly better than Apple's £15 for the same thing.0
