Hi everyone , I have a Brother who lives in Spain and would like a way where I could allow him to watch Torrent files I have downloaded on his TV via his Laptop .
At the moment we are using Samsung Link which is OK but means I have to have my PC turned on for Bro to view .
Any ideas for a better arrangement ???
Cheers All

Upload your files to a server where he can download them directly or even stream them. Plenty of file locker sites out there.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Illegally downloading copyrighted material is one thing, asking for help with it in a public forum on the other hand is rather stup*d.
Apologies in case I wrongly accused you...0 -

Besides the legality, leaving your pc on all the time, being responsible for what he watches and does, and it is also probably a pita setting all this up and managing it.
It is much simpler if he would sign up to a vpn service that operates in multiple countries including the uk, and you would get your sanity, and bandwith back too0 -
In general, I think easiest way is to buy a network drive with these capabilities and then you share the folder access with him.
This way, it'll be on 24/7 and use less power than leaving a PC on. It'll also be password protected.
Software can also work but fiddly to set up and means you waste power or your brother will have to contact you whenever he wants to watch something for you to switch on the machine.
I assume you have a fast Internet connection for this purpose. You may have to set dynamic DNS settings that can be added into the Network drive (IP addresses change) otherwise you'd need to tell your brother your IP address after every router reboot.0 -
Could Dropbox be an option?0

What a helpful post. An unwarranted assumption combined with personal insult.
Meanwhile back in the real world, try this.....
Download from wherever as usual.
Upload to cloud storage, Dropbox or similar.
Brother downloads from the cloud storage, converts to DVD format and burns to DVD with DVD Flick or similar. Or do the conversion before uploading.
But of course in the same way as I would never condone parking on double yellow lines, sounding a car horn when driving in a built-up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am, or committing an act of treason by placing a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside-down, never, ever do this with copyrighted material.0
