Hi Tootallulah, I used to subscribe to your other thread and am inspired and in awe of both these challenges. Started my healthy regime on 1st Jan and have lost zero so far!

I'v been studying for an exam on Tuesday and have only been to the gym for my induction, not very MSE.

Have subscribed here and hope to find and give inspiration along the way in 2015.
  • 36 points yesterday and more importantly, no alcohol, which would have been the norm for a Friday night.

Have been cultivating a sourdough starter all week and the dough is just proving now - I'm not expecting it to work, but the starter smelt lovely and beery as it was fermenting.

  • Made quorn and mushroom stroganoff for dinner and had it with cauliflower 'rice'. It was really tasty and filling. If you have it with normal brown rice it's 8 points but I'd rather forego the brown rice. Counting the whole thing as 6 points because I had a teaspoon of butter to start cooking the cauli in and a little bit more quorn than the recipe says.

Up to 40/44 daily points now as my sourdough loaf turned out really well and I had to try a bit!!

Goodness CWRA great minds I have just had jambalaya made with cauliflower rice it was deeeeelicios 8. Points and enough left for tomorrow. Hadn't ever heard of cauliflower rice but frugal queen put it on her blog, really great tip. I have never eaten quorn but maybe by next week I will have enough room in the freezer to squash some in.

Hello DD71, waves gratefully for the follow. Do please post me n CWR
    need allies!

Day 13, 34 points, no cheating, still have 8 spare points should I need them tomorrow. I am in London for three days next week and will be eating out twice I may need to do some very low cal days on Monday and Friday. I will definitely track everything and hope to exercise super marvellous will power.

Saturday night in- grrrrrrrr however I have made one skirt and will do another this evening as the one I have made fits well and looks OK.
  • Hiya, I've been following quietly too!

How do you do the cauli rice? Sounds really nice and would like to try.

    You are doing really well.

I too started healthy eating on Jan 1st but so far have not lost a lb!!

Got to keep trying I suppose.

Keep up the good work people. I have 2 days of eating takeaway food and scales say 2lbs on - eek!

So far today I have had an apple and banana chopped up and mixed with WW apple and pear crumble yoghurt - 1 point. Homemade soup will be lunch for 1 point and if I have a couple of Krisprolls at 1 point each I will still be sitting at 5 points.

tea is going to be a cheats fry up with ww sausages (1 point each), turkey bacon (1 point for 2 slices), egg (2 points each) so I can have a huge plateful for around 10 points and maybe throw some beans in. Yum!

Weigh in tomorrow so needing to shave some points off my total as have gone way over my weeklies :-(

All the best to everyone for their weigh ins this week.

  • Mrs tooti-frooti - if you grate the cauliflower, you can either steam it or stir fry it - I did a bit of both, 1 tsp of butter in a wok, toss the cauli around in it and add a little bit of boiling water so it steams aswell. I add salt and pepper too. Hardly takes anytime to cook as it's such small pieces. I don't like wasting 5 points on a couple of tablespoons of real rice, I'd rather fill my plate up for less points.

What was in your jambalaya tootallulah? I'm trying to gather a good variety of recipes, and be a bit more organised.

Will be having either leftovers from last night for my lunch or soup and not decided on dinner yet.

Really happy there's a few of us now, come on we can do this!!

Welcome Ali t and Mrs TF. If you want to try tracking WW points but don't want to spend a lot, I went through Quidco where I tracked the same money as I have spent on month one, so really it is FREE for a month.

What I used in jambalaya, it makes two servings I make it 8 points a serving:
    1 onion
    1 red pepper
    1 chilli de seeded
    1 can chopped toms
a handful of fresh toms (going squidgy)
    1 X courgette
    1 X grilled chicken breast 124 g
    1 X spicy, smoky sausage
    100 g prawns
half a head of cauli pulverised (would be OK grated I used the food processor).

Because I had them I also added some black olives and some preserved lemon.
    1 tbsp olive oil

2 X tsp cumin, 2 X cardomon pods, 1 tsp smoky paprika, 1 tbsp garlic paste, 1 tbsp corander paste, salt and pepper.

Soften all the veggies except cauli and tinned toms in a tbsp olive oil, when soft add the diced chicken sausage and the tinned toms, plus garlic, coriander, paprika, salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 mins.

Dry cook the cauli in a non stick pan, with the cumin and cardoman pods, stir continually and cook off for about 5 mins.

Add the cauli and the prawns to everything else cook for about three minutes.

I just used the herbs that I like, it does need flavouring up with something and I like the kick from the chilli. I am gradually working through the depths of the freezers so I do have a lot of ingredients available (I have found four bags of prawns!)

Today I have made some tomato soup for lunches next week. I tried the Waitrose Healthy Living moussaka (7 points) which was in their reduced cabinet for £1.25. I had it with a pile of green cabbage and it was fine I would buy again if it was reduced cabinet. Good for a no hassle meal.
  • I wonder why it is that threads about losing weight have posts that are all about food?

Cut out sugar then think and post about something else.

It's like alcoholics posting about making fancy alcoholic cocktails.

    Take your mind off food!

Thank you for that useful advice - I'd never have thought of it on my own. Unfortunately, a person can take or leave alcohol, the same cannot be said for food. Shopping has to be done, meals have to be planned and cooked, with even more regularity if you have a family to feed as well. Even if I could see food as merely fuel, I'd still have to cater for my family and give them variety and taste.

We are trying to support each other here by passing on our experiences and the odd tip. If it offends you, then can I suggest you don't bother to read or comment - in your words, post about something else!
