Nexus 4 Battery Drain

Lots of reported problems on Lollipop & Nexus.
Try the following. It is actually easier than it first appears
Older Nexus devices such as the Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 4 seem to be widely affected with poor performance issues after updating with Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
Some of the widespread issues noted with the affected Nexus devices include sluggishness, abnormal slowdown and random app crashes.
Here is how to use a potential performance fix on the Nexus 7 2012, manually:
Press and hold Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the device logo or Android logo appears on the screen.
You should now see a large arrow at the top of the screen.
Tap Volume Down repeatedly until you see Recovery in the arrow. Then tap the Power button
Then you will see an android on his back, chest open with a red triangle and exclamation mark.
Now hold Power button and tap Volume Up once before releasing the Power.
A list of items should now appear at top of screen.
Tap Volume Down until the item to erase or wipe the cache partition gets highlighted. Then tap Power button to initiate the wipe process.
Status messages will appear at the bottom of the screen. Be patient as it can take about 10-15 minutes to complete. When done restart the Nexus device.
I'll try it, but I would have thought factory resetting it would have wiped the cache anyway.0 -
Another option is to reboot in safe mode this extract is from Google support
If you’re experiencing issues - such as apps crashing, reboots or fast battery drain - on your device, they could be caused by a third-party app. To check if this is the case, you can start up your device in safe mode, which temporarily disables third-party apps that you've installed.
Ensure your device's screen is on, then press & hold the Power button.
Touch & hold the Power off option in the dialogue box.
Touch OK in the following dialogue to start safe mode.
Try using your device in safe mode to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, restart your device to get it out of safe mode and uninstall recently installed apps to see if you can pinpoint the one that’s causing the problem.
If you reboot in safe mode the phone will work fine but all none Google apps are disabled until opened manually or nexus 4 is power down and normal restart
I've used this trick to extend battery life to 2 days on Nexus 4 with 5.010 -

Doesn't make a difference. It's not an app that's causing the drain. I think I'm just going to have to try replace the battery. It must be hardware causing it. I've run through every test for the software I can think of. And it all comes back to it just being the phone draining the battery in sleep and not any of the apps.0 -
Let me know how you get on. I do it every couple of weeks on my Android 7 tablet to stop it freezing or getting laggy.
Clearing the cache did nothing. I wouldn't expect it to make any difference at all though. All it does is stores data for your most used applications so they are quicker to start.0 -
Sleep drain turn WiFi and mobile data off and test .0

Not aeroplanes mode .
Just switch off mobile data and wifi in the settings .
But you need to replace the battery to rule that out .
When you have tried the obvious then you have t try odd stuff .Its the battery or software or firmware or hardware in that order usually .0 -

I've replaced the battery and it still seems to be doing the same thing. Slightly less heat from it and a couple more hours idle time. But still no where near what it was like a week ago. Any ideas?0
