Moto G - new screen or new phone?

I bought my Moto G 16GB when they came out just over a year ago. I loved this phone, apart from the camera.
I've dropped it countless times and the only sign of it was some scuffing around the outer casing on the top of the phone. Until today - screen is badly cracked.
I don't have mobile phone insurance. I think it is covered on my household insurance but the excess would probably be higher than the cost of a repair.
I bought the handset outright and am on a SIM only 30 day rolling contract with Virgin. I'm trying to decide whether to go for a repair or buy a new Moto G, either the newer 3G version, or a 4G version.
I have heard the camera is better on the newer 3G version, which is tempting and don't know whether 4G is sufficiently attractive for me to pay out the extra for the handset and/or the monthly bills.
Just after opinions please.

you will be looking at about £40 to £60 to replace the screen, which most phone shops could do.
Or £139 sim free from tesco http://www.tesco.com/direct/motorola-moto-g-4g-black/404-7860.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=404-78600 -
or tesco locked £115
unlock for £2 on ebay
