It drives me mad when companies say judged then obviously pick random

Options
For example this Facebook Experian competition to win £1000 John Lewis vouchers https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5127568 quite clearly states:
'The winners will be those entrants who, in the sole opinion of the judge, submit the most aspirational and original entry.'

They've just posted the winner on Facebook saying:
'Her wish was for a happy and healthy Christmas and 2015 with her family.'

I am not bitter towards any winner and don't mean to cause any offence but I wish companies wouldn't have us spend ages writing clever and witty answers only to blatantly pick at random.

I understand they probably get hundreds of entries and don't have time to read them all but a bit of honesty in the T&C wouldn't go amiss.

I'm sure you've come across plenty of other examples.

Couldn't agree more, I cringe with embarrassment when I read some of them! In fact I usually try not to read them but sometimes it's like a compulsion!
Just horrendous particularly when I'm sure most of the people that try to win using a sob story have absolutely nothing wrong with them and those people who are genuinely ill or have suffered misfortune, wouldn't dream of mentioning it!

  • Currys are notorious for this too. The thing is I didn't bother entering this comp because I didn't think I would win with my answer!
    Make £10 per day-
    June: £100/£300
  • If it's "judged" then it's a game of skill, similar to television quizzes like: Eastenders is set in where? A. Cat. B. Dog. C. London.

If it's picked at random it's a lottery. Different laws apply to lotteries.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Good grief! I feel sorry for all those who actually took a bit of time and made a real effort.

You'd still get them! Just take a look on the radio sites (Capital for example). Nowhere on the article does it say to leave a comment, yet they do.

I do like having a read though, makes me realise just how great my life is to be free of a three-legged rabbit with Lyme disease ;)

'3 legged rabbit.......' just writing this down for the next sob story comp. You don't mind if I pinch that do you? lol :)

Btw, I agree with what's been posted already.
It is a bit disheartening when the effort is put in, and that happens. So now, I put the minimum effort in. Although, my effort of 'I want to win 'cos I haven't got one of these' isn't working atm. Perhaps I'm being far too honest.
