Btw all this HG talk is getting ahead of itself. Cooling systems are not difficult to diagnose, especially if leaking that bad. Take it to a decent garage for pressure testing etc
He pressure tested it with everything coming back fine, which is confusing.Save 12k in 2015 challenger NO.128 £0.00/£8000

OP what is your driving history like? In terms of NCB, years of driving experience, points, claims etc0

Must be leaking from somewhere when the engine is 'working' (i.e. while being driven along). Decent garage should deffo diagnose the problem.
My Punto HGT has a similar coolant issue atm and there are no visible leaks. But I know the bottom neck of the rad has a slight fracture so it's only leaking under pressure. It's loosing about 1.5 ltrs every 50 or so miles. I have a new rad on order but in the meantime I just keep checking the coolant every day.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. If a garage has and exhaust gas analyser, hold it over the expansion bottle and see the HC reading.
If the gaskets gone it goes off scale immediately, if it hasn't it wont move.
To be honest if the mechanic you are using thinks a sheet of cardboard will give him the answer, you need a better mechanic, one with some equipment for starters.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

You really need a better mechanic. The head gasket could be ruled out by a sniff test and the whole system pressure tested in 15 minutes. I'm sure the next tech you take it to will do all that and try and rule out a failed waterpump while he's at it.0

OP - ignore this idiot. He's a morphing troll, whose previous IDs have been frequently caught out in outright lies and various levels of utter stupidity and cluelessness.whitecloud663 wrote: »Assuming it's in average condition for its age, I can't be worth more than a grand. Spending £500 plus VAT to repair it isn't worth it IMO.0
