master plug update

my daughter has just moved into her new home after doing the renovations we fitted an alarm system that requires connecting to a telecom extension. She has agreed to sign up to talktalk for her broadband and telephone the house had no telephone connected when she bought it and does not know who the previous isp was. The master plug is so old it has no facility to connect an extension, who should pay for the masterplug to be updated, she should go live on the 13th of january

If your daughter is paying a new line connection charge (usually about £120 unless theer's a free offer) then BT Openreach will visit and fit a new Linebox.

Otherwise BT Openreach charge £25 + VAT to change an existing telephone connection to a Linebox. A visit charge may apply if they're not doing other work at the same time. Your daughter can't book this directly with Openreach; she'll have to get TalkTalk to arrange it and pay TalkTalk's charges.
