Added up all the spenss for May and I am declaring a total of £245.36. So an underspend, just. However as I thought we had overspent that is good.

Well done to all who came in on/under budget. Those that didn't don't give up.

Done the last of the shopping for May and am declaring at £192.86 £7.14 Rather near to total but at least we made it the right side. Family members decided that tomorrow they are coming for a roast so had to buy extra lamb today which hadn't planned. Its lovely having them though.

    Grrrr!
Hubby wanted a mooch around tesco yesterday! Food wise he put some crusty rolls, 2 x milkshakes and a samosa from the deli counter, into the basket. None of which were needed! I picked up a cucumber and tomatoes, as they are cheaper than aldi at the mo and some cereal bars that were on offer. So 4.12 to add to siggie.

I think I am going to cheat slightly. I am going to do weekly shop Today but don't need anything. If I wasn't at work I would leave it until Monday or Tuesday so going to put today's shop in the June budget!

Surprised myself and kept to budget, by quite a good margin! I'm declaring at £68.31 against my budget of £90.
Essentially due to being away most weekends but also trying to clear the freezer.
Thanks all for the motivation, I read the posts throughout the month and they help me stick to my plans!

I'm doing exactly the same Frizzle. Had to ask DH to get shopping today but don't need any of it until next week. So I'm going to put it on the June budget.

So that's me for May. It has seemed a l-o-n-g month but under at £147.09/200 (so £52.91 under which will go back into bulk-buy budget) and with 20 NSDs. I'm not counting today obviously.

Keep the faith one and all and try to think frugally.

'See' you all over in June and Well Done to all those under or around their budgets :T

    Hello everyone,

Well I have to admit that I haven't kept up with this month's thread, so sorry.

I have just added up all my receipts for May and will declare my total at £227.28 This is pretty good as I am under budget. I think this is due to the fact that we are trying to cut out meat and I haven't bought any meat for the last few weeks.

I am going to join in again for June, as I really enjoy the challenge and it is keeping me focused.

Thank you everyone and good luck.

Official budget for month was £253.10, and I came in at £238.70

Unofficial target was £200 (which I didn't make), and no more than £105 worth of goods from shops (based on full value, but I revised to not handing over more than £105 after vouchers, multi-saves and reduced-to-clear discounts). Value of goods from shops was £153.71, but I actually only handed over £103.66 - so I scraped in on that one because of my revision. It was a good month for Whoopsies, with £24.86 buying me items that should have been £65.85 - most of it being burgers, pies, goujons, kievs and ready meals (for DS1 to take to work and for while I was away for a week as he won't cook), a lot of which is still in the freezer so will hopefully help reduce spends over the next couple of months.

The one bit of good news was that I managed to keep down my spend on junk food :T As a %age of monthly spend it had been 13.46%, 11.36%, 11.29% and 15.79% for the first 4 months (spends of £30.93, £23.74, £34.06 and £23.80). For May it was only 2.61% of spends (£6.16), but this was helped by the fact I had plenty in that I’d bought earlier this year when I felt the need for something 'naughty'.

Shop to long-term stock split was 65:35, which isn't quite as close to 50:50 as I'd been trying to aim for - but the whoopsie spends have a lot to answer for when it comes to that. For the year to date the split stands at 64:36
