Going to try to find out how to make the bbq chicken chease and bacon thing they do in pubs I love that.

    Good luck everyone.
I think you may mean hunters chicken. There's loads of recipes on the web. There used to be a Schwartz packet mix that made a good one.

    Hello,

Very new to all this so please be gentle!!:D

Could I join please? Our month runs feb 25th - March 24th and will attempt £250, the last few months I have got us down from £500 to £300. Have managed to wean my fussy OH off branded goods unless they are on offer so have high hopes of saving the extra £50!

This is for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 cats and will incl toiletries, alcohol and household cleaners/laundry.

I already meal plan and buy in bulk. Know I could make better use of my freezer so will research the forums here.

Looking forward to the challenge and learning more.
Grocery Challenge March: £253/£250:eek: :(still so much of the month left!!!!!!!

    Grocery Challenge April: £199.96/£200
  • Count me in again - my month runs from the 20th to the 19th.

I went over my £200 budget last month so I'm going to go less this month and claw it back as I did stock up a little, especially on alcohol and meat! So I'll go for £180 but hopefully it will be less?

This is for 1 adult and 1 child and includes all food, toiletries, cleaning products, eating out etc.
  • Hi can i join please not sure of my budget im going to try £100 my freezer and cupboards are full so shouldn't really have to buy anything want to see how much i spend in march :)

    Hi

Please can I join? I did my own little challenge last month (pleased to say I was £20 under budget!) but it would be nice to have company!

I'm going for £50 per week/£200 for the month (running 27 Feb - 26 Mar).

Hopefully I'll manage this and then be brave and drop it next month but this is already considerably less than we were spending. However seeing how little others spend should spur me on!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £6,450.00
Total paid off - £9,150.89 (58% paid off)

Morning Everyone :) I am aiming for £250 again for March.

As always, thanks to Zippy, Coxy and Solstice for running this epic thread every month. I find it so helpful, and i am sure that i am not the only one.

I am 3 days into the March budget (my GC goes from 20th-20th) and I have £157 to last until 20th March  Not sure how i am going to manage that.

I spent £53 at Sainsburys to stock up for the month on tinned goods etc.
Then £20 at Aldi on fruit,, veg and dairy.
Then £20 at Tesco on special offers.

I haven't bought any meat this month, as i am trying to eat less of it, but am quickly running out of meal ideas. Any vegetarians around that can suggest meals for me? I have plenty of beans, lentils and some tofu and plenty of spices and herbs.

I do have some bacon and pork in the freezer to use up this month, but i normally stock my freezer up every month at the butcher. Meals like spah bol/chilli/roast dinner will last us 2-3 meals, but i am unsure how to accomplish this with veggie based meals. I cant eat quorn as it gives me a funny tummy too, and hate TVP mince.

    I'd make a crap vegetarian!

Many thanks Zippy, Coxy and Solstice for running this thread - much appreciated and very helpful.

I have finished spending in February as I have enough to last the last few days. Please put me down for £186.00 for March as I still have loads in the freezer.

I'm impressed that several of you do really well on a tighter budget. There is obviously more I could do to reduce my costs but I'm not sure how to go about it.

  • Hi everyone

I'm going to keep all of my receipts for this month (March) and just see what I spend. Then hopefully in April I can set ourselves (me and OH) a realistic challenge! I hoping that I won't be shocked by how much we spend!!

Good luck to everyone with their own challenges!
