Well I well and truly ballsed up last month however I am sure I did better then I normally would so that's a start. This month will run to the 24th and I am giving myself a slightly higher budget this month of 300 as I think I tried cutting back to much to quickly last month. I have £45 of meat coming which is
Skinless Chicken Breasts - 2.5 kg
3 x Irish Grass Fed Beef Mince - 400g
2 x Lean Diced British Beef-0.4 kg
2 x Beef Burgers (4 x 4oz)-0.45 kg
2 x 2 x 6oz Great British Hache Steaks
1 x Jacket Potatoes - 1kg
1 x Carrots - 1kg
1 x White Onions - 1k
Going to try to find out how to make the bbq chicken chease and bacon thing they do in pubs I love that.
I have been thinking with vegetables do the frozen work as well? So instead of buying a punnet of mushrooms would buying them frozen be cheaper for things like stew?
Also how does everyone separate out budgets? I was keeping mine in the main account and taking it out each week I am wondering if it might be better to take out a lump sum.
Good luck everyone.February GC £261.97/24 NSDS 10/12

So glad to have found this thread... Am embarrassed to admit how much we've been spending as a family on groceries each month compared to how little you guys are managing to live on!
We usually spend about £600, it's a ridiculous waste. So, for my first month starting in March, I'll aim to reduce down to £450 by meal planning, shopping a bit smarter, wasting less - and hopefully I'll be able to reduce that more in the next few months. Got a week or so to read to advise here and get my meal plan written up0 -
Could you put me down for £123 for March please?0

I'm back for another month. I found last month very helpful keeping me on track. I was going to opt for £50 again as I still have plenty in the freezer to keep us going. However, this is a five week month for me and also me and my son have a week off so he will be eating at home instead of having four days at nursery.
My month already started on the 16th and my signature is updated. Whilst it is a significant part of this month's budget I needed to do a stocking up shop plus I had people round for lunch this afternoon. On the plus side this has meant I have 1/3 of a roast chicken to use up this week.GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50

Hello, can I join in this challenge this month please? My month will run from FEB 26th until march 25th.
After the death of my mum at the beginning of this year, I am living alone for the first time and need to pay the bills on my own income alone. I have been slightly numb since mum passed, but I really need to get my act together and try to get on with things.
I've been really interested and impressed by the people on February's thread, and I could really do with cutting down on unnecessary spending myself. It's becoming an urgent necessity!
I'm not much of a cook, so will be trying to improve that, and I have a freezer full of food to run down.
I've set myself a budget of £170for February, including takeaways and toiletries, but excluding any restaurant meals and coffees. I hope to reduce that budget in the next few months, but I'm trying to ease in gently!2024 goals
GC: Jan £160 (annual £1920)
Savings: save £10K (or move house)
Health: Lose 3 stone
Mind: read at least 24 books0
