Gosh, it is only the 1st Feb and ten pages already :D

My challenge for February will start today, and my budget is the same is last month's - £250 This is to last till 28 Feb, and will cover not only groceries as such, but also toiletries, medicines, pet food, cleaning supplies etc :)

Last month was a long one, and this one short, so having gone over by just over £2 for January, I hope to have money left over this month!!

Hello All. Coming across from the January challenge where I came under budget. Budget for February will be the same £440, please. Can't do colour on my phone, sorry. I am trying to come under this budget by approximately £60 as I had some time off work last month with poorly children. Just will try it to mix it up, but won't officially change the amount.

Thanks to all who run this thread and all who post. Good luck to newbies. X
  • Hi can I join please? I want to spend £150 for the month on groceries. Hopefully by shopping around I will be able to do this, it's when boredom sets in that I tend to visit the shops. But this needs to stop as I have council tax repayments to start paying so any spare cash will need to be put towards this.

Also I want to aim for 10 NSD'S. Hopefully today will be a NSD so that could be my first one.
Feb NSD's 2/10 under my belt.

  • Good morning all. Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome yesterday and your many tips and advice regarding home and value brands. I would love to join you all this month and would like to aim for £150

So last night I sat down and worked out a menu plan to see me through this week until Friday. I have done this by shopping my cupboards to keep this weeks spends to a minimum and the following is what I have come up with. Hopefully by following this plan it should mean I only have to buy fresh fruit, veg and milk.
    Sunday - soup
    Monday - roast beef
Tuesday - homemade pizza and chips
    Wednesday - beef stew
    Thursday - cheesy pasta bake
    Friday - chicken curry

Have a lovely day everyone. Stay warm :snow_grin

  • Morning all, welcome to the newcomers :)

I had an NSD on Friday, I stayed in and made bread ^_^
Yesterday I spent £3.08 and £19.72 and I made garlic bread from scratch!
Today will be an NSD. We are going out for DH's birthday but that is from a different budget.

I noticed that a few of the items I bought in Aldi were not the price I expected, so either I read from the wrong shelf or some things were incorrectly priced, not an easy thing to go back and look at when it's packed, I always find shopping there difficult with children.

Have a good Sunday everyone x

  • I was absolutely rubbish at keeping track last month, but know I spent less and was definitely more mindful of what I needed foodwise. For this month I'm trying again with £80 as of today
I cannot see I will need anything barr milk and fruit for small one this week. Her sandwiches are already made up in the freezer and we have dinners aplenty. This is the 1st time in a very long time that I haven't spent half my weekend in the supermarket, but I really cannot think of anything we're in desperate need of and I'm determined to save!

Hi, could I rejoin please? We're a family consisting of 2 adults, 2 children - 1 of whom eats like a horse and 1 of whom would happily live on snacks all day long if he had the chance! I'm going to set my budget on what I know I can do and then aim to tweak it down. I tend to shop mostly at L*dl and then top up at M*rrisons and go shopping probably twice a week.

    Many thanks.

Feb budget: £350 for the month
    Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting

First 'big shop' of the month done, so a chunky £28.32, but I am missing bleach, toothpaste, loo roll and coffee, which I didn't want to get in Sainsbugs as it seems to have had another price explosion.

Their marketing had an effect on me as I got freezer stuff: basics peas and basics white fish fillets. But not the £2.50 chopped onions, because, no, I think that's a stupid idea. :rotfl:
