OP of £3.46 made from fleabay postage being less than I thought and a few pennies scooped up in the account.

Been strangely cool here today, not much sun and certainly not hot temperatures. I'm currently debating whether I can get away with not washing my hair for one more day!

Day spent doing a few home ed bits and then seeing friends. DS out at cubs, so all in all a lovely day!

Builder has been round and we await the quote, though the fact that none of the walls are load bearing has made us think about taking them out ourselves to save a few pennies and to use it where we would need to, ie plaster / flooring. We are going to wait for the quote first though.

Bit of shuffling in the account and I've sent an OP of £17.81 bringing July to £247.50 meaning July isn't doing too bad really!

1poll is creeping nearer to payout, i'm 2 points off payout with ips0s and pr0filic sitting at £13 something

A quick tidy in the bank account and £3.78 OP today. July OPs now £251.28.

Sun is shining, most of the bed linen washed and pegged out! I'm feeling very washed out today, kids would be more than happy with a day watching TV and doing stuff here, just feel guilty if that's what we end up doing. Still sitting in bed being very lazy!

Payday next week and just DH's pension to hit before August and I need to decide what to do with the extra that will bring considering we have scaled down the house renovations somewhat.. Savings are up to £4100, so might send half to that and half to the mortgage.. decisions decisions!

I wish PF, not considering sending half the £4100 - just half of the extra pension payment DH is due this month! But food for thought and being in the 70ks is so close.

Last few days of July.. cheeky fleabay sale means I can send £15.22 as the OP today bringing July to £266.50.

Quiet weekend, took the kids out for the day yesterday to a local farm, bit of a treat all round but meant that DH and I could actually sit and have a conversation about life! We've decided to hold back on the renovation at the moment, as we can't do exactly what we wanted, we are debating whether we should spend the money or hang fire.. I'm tempted to send a few thousand to the mortgage... though a bit disheartened by the amount we would actually save in interest after messing around with the OP calculator this morning. I think I just have to get into the mindset of reducing the term as the goal, not massively saving on interest.

Quiet day at home and then off to an open air theatre later which should be good.

It helps me to look consider all the figures alongside our actual mortgage debt. Having the whole picture of LTV, and daily interest really helps me to rationalise our progress. This was really helpful when I recently decided to redirect money previously allocated for OPs to pensions, as it helped me to rationalise our decision. This whole financial thing is like a marathon but with many many routes to choose to do down!

Thanks SJ - the one frustration I have with our online mortgage access is the lack of information on daily interest. I can't work it out, as the OPs update at the same time, so impossible to do unless I don't make any OPs around the time the monthly interest gets applied. You're right about LTV, I do look at it now and again, yet it doesn't motivate me very much.

As we have decided to hang fire on the house, we sent £1000 to the mortgage this morning. Aim for August, though it's a biggie will be to get into the £79,000s..

We talked again about life in general and both still firm this house isn't the forever home, so unless it's going to put value on the house and make us money, there is no point. We've also noticed a change in how much time we are spending on the house again whereas we were going out more of late and we like that! Life is too short to spend working on houses every weekend for us.

Need to do a bit of budget fiddling to model post retirement income today. Kids are watching a film, need to pop the the post office and we are doing some home ed stuff later.

    Rain and more rain here!
