Where do SORN vehicles have to be parked?

  • Not displaying a VRM is an offence in any case. Report it to the police and council as abandoned.

    Council would be better.

As VRM is a excise offence it's not strictly a police matter. If the force still has fixed penalty notices what details do they record?

They may however consider it to be damaged/abandoned and in need of recovery. If of course it caught fire they'd have to remove it.

Not displaying a VRM is an excise offence? Can you cite that for me please as I've been under the impression for a very long time that removing the registration plate from a vehicle is an RTA offence.

ETA: Appears there is a separate piece of legislation governing the correct display of the VRM including size, position, etc - the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001

Where exactly is it parked?. Who owns the land it is on?

I was going to say excise and registrations act 1994 but that maybe the update.
