Morning everyone, hope all our friends in the north have stayed safe in the absolutely diabolical weather they've had overnight and that their power isn't out for too long today.

He Who Knows has just heard there is an outbreak of a strain of flu in the Southampton area that is a new mutation and not covered by this years flu jab, lots of cases apparently so we may just stay out of crowded areas for a few weeks and try to avoid coming into contact with it. Not a guarantee though and if we catch it, well so be it I guess. Just looked up the flu strain which is H3N2 and found it's Swine Flu!!! so not a new mutation at all.

I was awake at silly O clock this morning and have got all sorts of things done so I'm just off to serve up our porridge as the microwave has just beeped at me. Look after yourselves and have a good day, Lyn xxx.

Good Morning everyone,

Happy Birthday to those celebrating, hugs to those that need them.
Hope everyones well.

The wind started last night at 10 pm and its still gusting. So far only damage is two bird feeders blown into the garden and the felt has been blown of the shed roof. Hopefully thats all.

My plans for the day are all my usual daily jobs and one weekly job and hopefully a bit of sewing if the power stays on.

Hope everyone has a good day.

regards

Mr tru has a cold (so obviously he's dying). I told him he should stay in today and I'll just nip to town to get a bit of shopping. I get to spend as little as possible and he thinks I'm a lovely caring wife. Result! :D :rotfl:

I'm itching to plant seeds but it's too early. I might go through the pots and seed trays and start filling them with compost over the next few days.

MrsLurchwalker when I was going through chemo and r/therapy my oncologist told me the best way to avoid infections ,especially during the winter, is to avoid if possible crowded shops or presincts.I have done this ever since and rarely get a cold .My immune sytem was shot by the chemo so I stay away from anywhere that could be a problem
SM and shopping malls seem to be a hotbed of infections with people coughing and spluttering all over the place .If my DGC are poorly I also stay away from them as well. not being anti-social,just very careful.

redruby the flapjack idea sound good, I'll give it a go tomorrow morning as its my baking day tomorrow thank you.

Well the weather is looking a bit grim at the moment here but nowhere near as bad as it is for our friends in the north.Batten the hatches down chums and just wait it out.Quite frightening for a lot of people I think.
Just drizzly rain at the moment here.NSD today but history club starts back this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing and Happy birthday to those celebrating and <<hugs>> for those who are down or poorly

Morning all! Windy but bright outside and quite mild. Washing machine on, changed kitchen tablecloth, DH and boys off to work and school. Had a phone call from DS16's nurse to say his bloods are still improving so he doesn't need blood test next week so I can cancel that.

Today's plans are to make broccoli and stilton soup for weekend lunches and do a thorough dust downstairs.

I have 10p mincemeat too, JackieO. I like Delia's apple and mincemeat tart, shall be making that on Sunday.

Morning all,

my have I got the headache from hell today! This is the second day of having it and ive decided I'm not going to suffer it a day longer... paracetamol here I come! I think its my old 'friend' dehydration kicking me up the bum again cause I haven't been drinking as much as I should. Hopefully i'll get a few extra drinks inside me and with the paracetamol I should see it off completely.

A swift reminder, my daughter gets married 4 months today. My hair is growing but not as quick as I'd like. Ive got some idea of what I want to wear on the day but haven't got as far as commiting myself yet but I know it wont be black.:rotfl:Whilst in South Africa, my daughter has just applied for Soldiers British passport. His South African passport was straight forward apparently but his British passport is a bit more complicated. I remember the hastle when hubby had to claim his UK citizenship a few years ago. He, like Soldier was born abroad of British parents. The difference being Soldier has been adopted by British parents.

Thinking of my Mom yesterday and wallowing in self pity so today its....

Onwards and forwards.

have a great day all.

• Morning, my goodness it was a wild night, we have a dustbin in the garden which holds rainwater, it was full, the wind blew it over!!

Great news yesterday. Aldi are in talks with the local council about building on the old ambulance station site on the edge of the town...woo hoo it will save me a 36 mile round trip to Grantham if it goes ahead.

Friday clean half done, just having a cuppa before I tackle the kitchen, the floors is a mess. I also need to empty the Dyson, where all that muck comes from in my clean house I will never know!!

Morning all,

Washed the car and baked some cranberry muffins this morning. Think we maybe going to Thurrock this afternoon when I finish work.

Had a message from my DD at 4 this morning saying her and her OH were waiting at Dublin airport for the buses to start running at 6am to take them down to Wexford. Apparently their plane tried to land twice before being diverted to Shannon airport where they landed ok. They sat on the plane for 2 hours waiting for clearance to take off and go back to Dublin. Eventually they put the passengers on buses to Dublin which took another 3 hours. They had intended to go on the ferry which would have been worse!

OMG Judi, where has the time gone! My DD is getting married a week after yours. Need to think about an outfit!

Happy Friday all :)
• Hello all,
I did my 1st aid course this week. That was good. Quite confident I can help someone before a paramedic arrived.

Judi, hope your headache goes. It probably is dehydration but I would take some meds now.

Weather is ok here. A wee bit gusty but nothing like in Scotland. Looks awful on the news. As does some parts of America that have been hit by ice storms. Im stocked up just in case bad weather hits us.

I have been sticking to my menu planner this week which is good.mtonight is choritzo pasta for me & dh and HM pizza for the kids.

Not really got anything planned for the weekend. I do need to drop over present and card to my niece, it was her birthday the other day but I haven't had time to go over.

Take care all

Love, hugs and spoons x

Ah Busiscoming, you must live not too far from me. I go to Thurrock (lakeside) shopping. Although I do like Westfield at Stratford. Not that I go shopping often. I don't like it and it costs too much! X
