Quick question about ISA's

Hi,
Just a quick question for you. My partner and I have just sold his car, and got 8.5k for it, as I'm pregnant (due in Jan) and we want to buy a cheaper car, and use the spare money to tide us over while I'm on maternity leave.
We could put 3k each in an ISA, but would have to take the money out again in Dec/Jan to buy a new car.
Will we lose out on the interest if we don't leave the money in til April?
Thanks
