Sports Direct - returning online bought items?

You had no right to anything including a credit note, you would have brrn motre annoyed if they had just told you to jog onI recently purchased products online from Sports Direct (April 2015) and there was no problem returning them to store - they seemed to have the option on the tills ("online returns"). BUT, I did get a credit note, not money - which is annoying.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Surely if they bought online, they were entitled to a refund, subject to the rules about the seller being able to deduct something (for restocking possibly, not 100% on that).
The fact that they have allowed them to return in store then became subject to SD's terms (credit note).0 -
This is totally incorrect. You had no right to anything including a credit note, you would have brrn motre annoyed if they had just told you to jog on
When returning goods to SD, whether bought online or in the store, you are entitled to a refund. This is because their terms and conditions state this and as such, these terms and conditions form part of the conditions of sale.
A retailer can't legally advertise a returns policy and then simply refuse to honour it whenever it suits them.0 -
Because we don't know whether the goods georgegee returned were faulty or not, it is difficult to say whether SD had acted wrongly.Hermione_Granger wrote: »This is totally incorrect.

If the goods were faulty then of course the consumer should receive a full refund - in real money.
But if the goods were not faulty, but simply unwanted then a credit note is probably inline with their returns policy.
SD's returns policy does point out that to receive a full refund when purchasing online one needs to cancel the order in writing.
This is in line with current legislation.
If the OP hasn't made that written cancellation, and the goods aren't faulty, then SD are entitled to supply a credit note upon return of the goods because the customer has not cancelled the order in line with Section 32 of The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Yes I know this devious stuff by SD, but it appears to me to be legitimate.
I do agree that McKneff is wrong to say outright that the customer is not entitled to a credit note.0 -
And you needed to bump my year old thread for that? LoL0

A cautionary note: I purchased several items online 1 out of 4 items fitted properly so I went in-store to return, they offered a credit note as I didn't have the blue bag they came in, I went home and returned with the bag, they then told me I had to post the items back as it was a online purchase. So I paid for delivery £3.95 and the returns £3.95 !!!!!! I will never ever purchase goods from their website again without having tried the goods on somewhere before hand. I dont mind paying for delivery but returns should be free imo. The trouble I went to 2x to the shop and then to the post office, now I have to wait until they receive the goods and my bank account is credited .... as I write this I know deep down they are really taking the mick out of me, it wont happen again !!!0

No, they offered a credit note as that is what their policy is when returning unwanted online purchases back to store.so I went in-store to return, they offered a credit note as I didn't have the blue bag they came in
Presumably you were asking for a refund, in that case they were right to tell you to post the items back, this is in the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you purchased them online.they then told me I had to post the items back as it was a online purchase
Why should SD be out of pocket for you ordering an item them deciding you didn't want it? If you returned the whole order you would be entitled to your original delivery charge refunded though. So I paid for delivery £3.95 and the returns £3.95 !!!!!!
There are plenty of companies out there who do offer free returns, maybe try using one of those next time.I dont mind paying for delivery but returns should be free imo.
You didn't have to go to the shop at all, if you read the returns information which is available online where you purchased it from it explains that unwanted items can only be returned by posting them back to obtain a refund. Your fault you went to the shop twice not Sports Direct. The trouble I went to 2x to the shop and then to the post office
With regards to going to the Post Office, perhaps try arranging for a courier to pick it up from your house next time.
99% Of retailers, especially budget ones, will do this. Did you expect to be able to call them up, tell them you intended to return some items then expect a refund immediately?now I have to wait until they receive the goods and my bank account is credited
Quite unsure how you have got to that conclusion, they have done nothing wrong.as I write this I know deep down they are really taking the mick out of me0 -
