Hi, I currently pay for virgin & while it's great I really only use the channels I could get on freeview anyway. I have a smart TV (Samsung ue40h6400) - does anyone know if there is a way to get freeview via WiFi on a smart TV? I can already get a lot of on demand stuff through my TV with apps but would like to get live TV. Assume that an aerial is not an option if you respond, please.
Thanks in advance!

Nope - the ONLY way to receive Freeview is through an aerial. You can also view broadcast TV through cable (Virgin) or satellite (Sky, Freesat, free satellite) and some channels will stream over the internet (BBC1 & 2 - most programmes) but it's no replacement for 'free broadcast TV' that you're looking for.0

You can even with a normal TV.
Get one of these:

And download this app onto it http://tvplayer.com/apps/ It has most of the freeview channels http://tvplayer.com/channels/.0 -
Some wonky internet streams is not Freeview. It may suffice, certainly give it a go, but it's not Freeview!
Above advice can be followed on an Android phone or tablet without the hardware - try before you buy, and update us with the results...0 -

How do you know what people want to watch?;)0 -
if you can bring up the internet on your smart tv go here i watch most of freeview in the uk live section

OK , my ariel went down in the wind about 3 weeks ago , plan B went into operation
I had a raspberry Pi that I used as a media player (xbmc) , a quick google gave me "filmon" , now downloaded , and running my TV via a xbox remote
I actually get more freeview channels than what was available on the TV (Granada)
I can also watch 1000,s of new films free of charge as well
a raspberry Pi can be bought on ebay for as little as £23 , then you need a remote and receiver , £3.99 china or £7 UK , and a wifi dongle , about a £5 , + an 8 gig memory card.
the machine can be powered from the TV USB socket , the operating system is a free install and so are all the addons0 -

1) A hudl- can content direct to a television with a hdmi lead. You can then use any of the free apps (eg TVCatchup or FilmOn). The advantage is you can use any app and get a full range of programs. The disadvantage is it is connected to the tv physically so you have to get up and go to the hudl to change channels.
2) connect a chromecast, then use an app such as "filmon" which you can cast to the tv. Not all apps allow you to cast.
I have used both of these options so I know they work. The only issue I find is you don't get regional tv live, though you can get BBC Scotland or BBC Northern Ireland.
I have used both of these options so I know they work.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0
