I am very likely to be moving in with my elderly mum to become her carer at the beginning of February. i currently have a contract with virgin for tv, broadband and phone which i took out in october 2014. as i will be moving into her house i will not need this any more and she also has her tv, broadband and phone with Virgin. . Do you think i will have to keep paying for my package until #September 2015? Sorry but i am having to investigate so much in the way of carers allowances, changing my work hours and pensions and council tax i haven't much energy left and was just hoping some forumites might know/have advice before i have to face virgin customer 'service' Thanks

I'm afraid you will have to continue paying or pay to end your contract early.frannybanny wrote: »I am very likely to be moving in with my elderly mum to become her carer at the beginning of February. i currently have a contract with virgin for tv, broadband and phone which i took out in october 2014. as i will be moving into her house i will not need this any more and she also has her tv, broadband and phone with Virgin. . You can terminate your contract penalty-free (if you are paying line rental or are on one of the popular bundles) as long as you do it before 1st February. See here:

Even if you don't come under those categories (unlikely), you can reduce your package to the minimum and/or try to negotiate on a termination fee. People on these forums always say you must pay in full to the end but it's not always the case with Virgin.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -

It says you have to notify Virgin by the end of December in the link, February 1st is when the price actually rises, so the OP will have missed out on that option.0 -
My price increase notification letter states, 'you can cancel your contract any time before 31 Jan 2015 without paying any cancellation fees.' Have you had a price increase letter? If you have then this is the reason for cancelling. If not then call them and ask if your price will be going up.
Unfortunately this is the risk of taking a contract. None of us know what will happen months down the line. You won't know your options until you give them a call and ask if they can help you. Remember that you agreed to the contract and see if they can at least meet you halfway. Good luck and I hope you and your mum will be ok.0
