I nearly bought a house about 7 years ago. Survey was done and I was never going to get a mortgage on it (nobody was). I offered it to the vendor out of courtesy as it was no use to me.
Its cheeky to ask but its of no use to you - it might allow them to put some issues right and re-list?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. thats what confuses me though. we had long talks with the EA about what was wrong, and even told them how to put things right [involving utilities companies], and the vendor has been told yet they have not acted on anything. maybe they think we're bluffing for some reason, i dunno whats going on with them. they took it off the market 8 wks ago and have now relisted, same price, but done nothing to rectify the problems. haven't even asked for quotes or anything, according to EA
so i reckon they just want it to pass onto the next buyer0 -
We were gazumped and sold our survey to the gazumping buyer. I had every reason to not be nice to the next buyer and got 50% of the survey cost.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Maybe they are driving the EA mad by not listening and the EA is hoping that by seeing it in black & white they will take the concerns seriously? I guess we won't know, but if that's the case I wouldn't expect them to be willing to pay for it. But no harm in asking.0 -

Here they want to see that report to help them sell the property.
Thus your analogy with a car park would be: what would you do if a car park attendant asked you to help him to his job for free.
It's not a bluff: If they don't want to give something they don't get to see the report.
It's the same in principle.
The current holder of the ticket (and report) has no benefit of holding on to it but someone else gets the benefit of it being passed on (the person that receives the free parking or the EA/seller that may assist in selling their house). Whilst you may see this as helping the EA with their job in reality it is helping another human being sell their house rather than just lining a business' pocket.
If the OP wants to dig their heels in then fine but ultimately they cannot then claim to be a fount of overflowing generosity. If the bluff is called they have literally nothing to lose or gain from handing the document over except the fact it could help out a fellow human being if they did.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

i am not exactly digging my heels in. the question was asked and i haven't yet answered because i was unprepared for the question. i thought all communication with the EA has ceased.
i wouldn't "claim" to be anything!0 -

My apologies, I was being facecious, I'm sure if they do offer you peanuts or nothing for it you'd treat them how you would like to be treated. :beer:Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I agree with the above. Offer to sell it to them for a fee but make sure they agree that neither you nor the original surveyor will be held responsible for the contents of the report.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
